Ive had my BTA for a while and hes been on and off lookin good. i just got home and he was all deflated and his mouth was wide open. I know they need to deflate when they need to get rid of waster but i heard when their mouths are not tightlt shut thats not ok. I feed everything in my tank coral food mix(frozen) thats got a little bit of everything in it. Any help on whats goin on?

I would leave it alone completely until and unless it starts to melt or fall apart.
Good luck.

sometimes when my little friend poops through his mouth, it takes a long time, and it is painful to watch, it looks like he his trying to turn himself inside out....that is my guy.

one minute he will be the size of a quarter with his mouth open then one second he will be totally inside out and the the next when the lights are off hes totally fine. and that all continutes throughout the day.. ALL my other corals aare perfectly fine.. and i check my water all the time and everything is good except phosphates are tad bit high. I have a 150w MH HQI 20k over my 29... that couldnt possiblly be too much light could it?

I think he would probably move under a rock if it was to lighting. PS If he was fine up to this point why would anything change. He could be stressed. I've had a shrimp pester mine untill it did the same thing. I got rip of the shrimp, the anenome moved and was fine, besides a little color loss..

thats true.... my water paramers are fine but he seems to get bad when the lights are on....maybe i need to start to feed him somethin else.. like silversides...i think the fish are eating all the coral food mix frozen stuff i put in the tank

I hjave a cleaner shrimp that lives nextdoor to my RBTA and no problems yet except the shrimp steals the RBTAs food so I have to watch untill hes finished eating to make sure the shrimp didn't steal the meal

He definately needs something meaty like silversides.

Jerehmy: I feed my shrimp first, then the BTA. It keeps my shrimp busy while the BTA can eat.

BTA's need nice meaty food.
I just got a RBTA and he was being fed mysis before, and now I'm feeding mine silversides and he just eats them down like a pig. Think of how many little shrimp it takes to equal the food mass that is in one small piece of silverside fish!
Maybe he hasn't been getting enough nutrition and has been slowly starving to death?
Pictures?
Water parameters?

thats whats its got to be because my parameters are good and everything else in the tank is awesome

the LFS said that the coral food frozen mix stuff would feed everything but it makes since about the meaty food

When they are starving they become smaller and the tentacles look shortened. Your sounds like something is bothering him.

its a GBTA and i have a frogspawn...yellow polyps... plate coral.. two acros.. and a candy cane coral wise.. fish wise i have a tomatoe to host it and i have a yellow coris wrasse and a lubbocks fairy wrasse,.... will any of that stuff bother it
?
