Bta splitting? Pic

I have had 3 BTA's for over a year. My experience with them has been that they find their place in the tank that makes them happy. If I tried to move them to a particular spot they will move from there til they find what they like whether it's more or less light or more or less flow. I feed mine about once a week with fresh shrimp pieces and I'm pretty sure I probably don't need to even do that but I would like to see them split so I feed them.

I know people have problems with them wandering. But in my experience if they find a foothold they like, you can move the rock and they don't mind. You would want to consider flow when placing it. They seem to like their "foot" hidden from the light some and they like a nice smooth hole.

I will say I have to side with both of y'all. I have had moved rock with a bta on it to another tank and it didn't move.

On the other hand I've moved them from a spot and they go straight back where they were.

Who knows with those guys.

Well we are practically neighbors. Awesome. I set up a user name and pass on marsh. But I think that it's just for the forum.

I used to be fairly active with the club, but haven't had time in the last few years. It's an awesome resource, isn't it.

I hardly ever go any more as I've been out of the hobby for the last 3 years - just starting again.

I like City Pets a lot. They are a full service store and they give you a better price if you're a regular customer - good place for salt and supplies in a pinch. Donny is the guy to talk to there.

I used to make the rounds: Aquarium World - Dave knows his stuff - the girls, not so much, Aquatic World on Jones, cool coral specimens (no salt now?).

My favorite was a place up the road from City Pets on Bellaire near Bissonett, I think. That store had the best corals and healthiest stock and was the best place to get stuff like chaeto and a handful of good sand. I really liked the owner and that he was up on newer stuff- I hope he's still there. I also had a good relationship with the guy with the store on 249 near Bammel N Houston. But I think he got a real job and his wife runs the store now or something like that.

If I'm going to buy a fish, I usually buy from Aquarium World or B&B's. I got two cyanided angels from a place up on 242.

Anyway, I'm not up on it anymore. What places do you like?

I like aquarium world. They have a really good selection.

The one on 242 is called fish r us. I'm not crazy about their selection. But they have some Marshall rock that they are having a blow out sale on. I got 17 pounds for 100 dollars.

I like a place called pet city off 1960 and 45 not a huge selection. But we are in there 5 times a week and everyone is real cool there.

Fish gallery just moved to fountainview off 59. Awesome showroom. Lots of cool stuff and an overall really nice place. I actually just interviewed there to do saltwater maintenance.

I haven't been to city pets yet b&b or fishland off westheimer. But I'll check them out soon.

Yes, that's the place Fish r Us.

Pet City - I haven't been there in years. So they are doing saltwater again? It was owned by the Stacks who became notorious for publicly slamming Bela Karolyi about his treatment of their daughter, Chelle, in the book Little Girls in Pretty Boxes. Their shop is just a stones throw from where Karolyi's Gymnastics was. I bought a Persian cat from them. The cat was stolen and the last I heard Chelle had joined Cirque du Soleil in Orlando. I wonder if they retired and sold the pet store?

What are you feeding your BTA. Be careful your clown might actually take food from it. Is the food sticking to it. How long is your light cycle and how many bulbs do you have. He does look a little bleached but that does not mean its going to die. Bleaching can be reversed, but it takes commitment and time. First thing to do is to is to provide excellent water quality and optimal lighting. If you fear your light is too strong, you can simply reduce the photo period and increase the time slowly over a couple of weeks. This will allow the anemone to adapt. When the light is too strong, the anemone will usually hide from it. The anemone should also be feed in small quantities on a regular basis (3-4 times a week) until it's color recovers. This will keep it from starving since it dosn't have it's symbiotic algae to help out.

Guess I failed to mention if there is not enough light it will stretch up trying to get as close to it as possible. Remember BTA's like a good foot hold and a gap to hid in....
