Bubble blaster vs Askoll pumps?

I have had a Super Reef Octopus XP 5000 Internal Cone for about 2 months now, I had some problems with the BB on shipment CV took care of me and it's been perfect ever since.

Good customer service is good to see, I hope it lasts.

I have a sro2000 with the bubble blaster 2000 pump. This thing is loud. It has a very loud hum to it. I can actually feel it if I touch the walls upstairs above the tank. It works well though.

I will have to check to make sure I have it setup correctly.

you need to take it apart and check it out mine had some plastic on the inside of the cylindar making it vibrate. they are still working out the bugs

I will admit, the hum of my bubble blaster is definitely louder then dead motor block, non spinning, piece of garbage askoll pump I had before. But once I close my stand, I don't hear it. I also find the BB starts up nicer then the askoll.

Wow Guillo, that's crazy we have the EXACT same problem and I remember you from the Cat-2 thread way back when I bought it.

My Askoll 1500 was also "pulsing" and totally failing, so I too had to opt for the BB-5000 and I'm waiting for it to arrive this week. Thank goodness for that 3 year warranty on the Hurricone Cat2. My askoll failed about 2 years and 8 months.

I'll update everyone as well to let you know what I think of the BB-5000 replacing my askoll 1500. It was a very quiet pump and worked pretty well I thought.

Weird that we both had the exact same failing Askoll pump about the same time after getting them on the same skimmer. *shrugs* I think people should stop talking about how well made and reliable askoll pumps are but that is the persepctive of a guy who is waiting for his replacement for one that failed. I'll take that Bubble Blaster replacement gladly with it's 3 year warranty.

I have a bb5000 on my sro5000 skimmer and a wb5000 return pump. As well as a wb2000 accessory pump. Love them all and I do not find any of them loud. Will have a cr5000 calcium reactor here in the next few days which also uses a wb5000 My oldest pump is my wb5000 return which I have owned since they were introduced.

I can hear my skimmer without stand doors but I do not consider it loud at all. Thing is a bubble making BEAST! Very pleased with all of my pumps.

I have a dead silent tank, and find the SRO 2000 extremely quiet, it cannot be heard outside the stand.
