Does that diffuser plate (the one with all the holes inside the skimmer body) come off? Would be use ful for cleaning if it does.

diffuser plate doesn't come off. Stuff does get caught under there, but I suppose a drop in powerhead or something would take care of that.

As moonpod stated the diffuser plate does not come out...
