Bubble King & "Mini" Bubble King Skimmers Coming Soon - New Lower Pricing!

I have it in the sump. Took a bit of doing but it fit. It's been running for about 10 minutes and is already tearing it up! I had an asm g3 with recirc mode before.

Thats a good idea. We can start it in the CMAS forum!! I have to do some work replumbing too but I think it will be worth it. I need a new return pump. I was thinking about the mini red dragon as a return but I just spent a bundle on this skimmer. ill put it off for a bit. The craftsman ship looks unbelieveable just by looking at the pics online. But the bubble density is amazing too. It looks like shaving cream. Have you looked at the drain on the skimmer? What size tubing is required for the drain? Get some pics up man!! LOL

Scott

Yeah, it will be a small club in the CMAS forum. The only other person I have seen that has a BK in the area is that guy that has the 320 gal fairy wrasse tank in Barrington.

The output from the skimmer drains down and the output is only about 2" from the base. Not sure how you could do much with that for plumbing if that was the question. If the question was about microbubbles based on my testing last night I had a very minor amount of bubbles escape. Even in 7 gallons of water I saw minor amounts of bubbles in the tub. One thing I did notice was around the waterline bubbles were practically held in suspension by the water flowing downward. This should be especially good for extended contact time for stubborn organics.

Here are a couple pics. I started taking pics on Wednesday thinking that I would post them that night but once I found out that replumbing would be needed I held off.

Comparison to my current skimmer ER CS 5-3

The skimmer is now submerged to 8 inches. I had it way too deep in the previous pics. We'll see if the bubbles make it to the collection cup.

Looking good!! Looks like you might have to raise the water level in the skimmer a tad. Looks like its just short of the black line. With the output what is the width of the skimmer do you think? Looks like its probably about 11 1/2 inches in width.

Klaus,

Super Marine question. I have a 450 gallon SPS tank going. I like the BK 300 internal but its base is a little too big to fit in my sump. What base size will the equivalent super marine be? I have about 16 x 17 inches to work with. Or which model would you recommend.

Thanks

@CWEDER....
the supermarines are in development and not ready for serial-Production... this modells are completly anouther skimmers. The Supermarines a good for sumps with constant waterlevel.
We building at the moment a test-tank with laminar-movement and include a Black-Box-Filter. Here we want testing the new Supermarines.

For a 450 gallon-SPS-system, i think, the modell 250 or 300 internal is the best skimmersize for you...
Here Pictures from costumers where using a Bubble King 300 internal..

best regards.... Klaus

I think I need to raise the skimmer out of the sump a bit.

I just got my 160 up and running and the water level is similar to that in your first pic. Why did you raise the skimmer? It looks like you were getting great foam production.

:D

Klaus,

Just to be clear, you are saying a SuperMarine 250 or 300 will be
best for my 450 tank, 600 gallon system. The sump will be a stable height and non turbulent. I can test one out if you like. It looks like you already made plenty of prototypes. :love1:
I see 1 extra in the back. :p

Seriously, my beckett skimmer does not pull anything out like that.

I read the skimmer should be submerged 20-25cm for optimal performance. I had it over 30cm deep. I also had the water level inside the skimmer too high. It was making a gurgling sound.

Strange. . .my water level is right where yours was and the skimmer is dead silent. It's been running about 6 hours now and is close to producing skimmate. Hopefully I can get by with the current height as I have very little room in which to raise the skimmer.

Jeremy or Klaus:

What size tubing is used for the drain hole (mini 160)? I tried 1/4" ID "icemaker tubing" and it's a little too small. I'm guessing it's a metric size but what?

Thanks!

Answered my own question. . .5/16" OD clear tubing (soft and flexible like airline tubing only larger) fits perfectly. Had some laying around. . .you can get it at Lowes. Nice and snug.

Klaus,

I re-read what you already posted. You said the SuperMarine 250 will have a base of 11 X 11 inch and be rated for 260 to 800 gallons and only 20 inch tall. Thats extremely efficient. Hopefully quality of skimmate produced is just as remarkable. This would certainly fill my needs well.

Now, you said you would post a video of it in action?

@ catastrofe...
the hole in the Cup is exatly 10.0 mm. You can glued a 10mm Pipe inside the hole..

@Cweder....

we want make a video of the Supermarines at next time.
