Bubble King & "Mini" Bubble King Skimmers Coming Soon - New Lower Pricing!

I will mention this to Klaus at MACNA this weekend. I agree that it would definitely be easier to see when reassembling the unit.

Thanks Jeremy, I wonder how many other people have CNC as a injection plate especially for the mini 200. Do you notice on the mini you have at home the position of the injection plate in your skimmer? I notice when I took everything apart you can push the injection plate side to side. You think that would make a performance difference? I have mine centered, but it looks like from other pics I have seen its pushed near the side of the skimmer instead of being centered.

Dude, you got to let it skim and stop playing with it, that's why your not getting any skimmate yet :)

Hahahaha!!! Gotta love RC!!:D

Something I learned checking out the German forums and talking to Jeremy. The bubble injection plate without the holes needs to be lined up under the pump so it can disperse the bubbles. The Bubble plate does move around but thats part of the skimmers function. Another interesting thing I read on one of Klaus responses in the German forum is that the higher you raise the water the more air!! That doesn't seem right. Maybe that yahoo trasnlator is off.

Here is the reponse from Klaus from a question about the mini 180 and air intake. Looks like the higher the water level the more air.

This has been translated.

@Mirko.... the mini UC bring in principle more air, as if gelabelt is, a 180er can not at all only 800 litres air introduction have, but possibly also 1000 litres or even somewhat more. Always arrives on the water level, as deeply the mini UC is located dived in in the filter. The more highly the water level, the seriously more highly also the air introduction. These air introduction noises are extremely difficult to away-get. The resonator is there a very good possibility of decreasing the sound. In principle it is possible to clean-put in the muffler still cotton wool then the noise is again reduced clearly. In principle we are however opponents of cotton wool-plugged mufflers, because from own experience white I, adds myself the cotton wool very fast and should every 4 weeks be renewed. Therefore we leave the cotton wool outside. The resonator to mini UC is to be opened however. You can fill the resonator by way of trial with something cotton wool and schaun whether the noise is decreased. Otherwise reliably the double muffler solution helps. Luftansauggerue is actually audible with all Schaeumern, times more or less, present on the market. These noises are mostly over-sounded however by extremely strongly humming pumps. If one acquired then MINI UC, where the pumps are nearly noiseless, every other background noise, stop is noticeable extremely.

That's weird indeed !

I set my water level to under or about on the Max Water Line level to see what it gives. Since I fed my fish , it's stop producing some skimmate for a couple of hours now. Hoping to see some results tomorrow morning. So far, I've been getting mostly tea colored skimmate. But again, I have a low bioload (30 lbs of LR and 1 fish..for a 120g).

I also setup my float switch, that will turn off the skimmer (until I reset it) after a power outage. I'll sleep better this way :)

Yes, with any skimmer that is not recirculating you will get more air into the venturi with a higher sump water level. This is because the pump has to "work" to fill the skimmer with water above the water level in the sump. Any water above this level is going to push back on the pump due to gravity so the pump has to push against this force to pump water into the skimmer. This will decrease the efficiency of the pump. The more water pushing back against the pump, the more the efficiency is decreased. Add to this the fact that red dragon pumps are low power conuming pumps that produce high flow rates. With this type of pump, any little back pressure has a large effect on the output of the pump. You will achieve maximum efficiency when the water level in the sump is the same as the top of the water level in the skimmer. Due to skimmer designs, this is not always possible as the water will not properly drain out of the skimmer. But as a general rule, the higher the water level in your sump, the more efficient your flow through skimmer will be.

Now with recirculating skimmers it is different because the water level in the skimmer is already at a set level and not creating any backpressure on the recirculating venturi pumps. The pumps are drawing water from the same chamber so it is the same as a closed loop with no backpressure.

Travis you have a BK 400 internal right? Have you cleaned the air silencer yet? Klaus said it can be taken apart and cleaned. Still trying to figure out how to do it. Do you know whats in the air silencer?

got mine today

letting her break in

Looks like my Nemo has been having a bad case of *** :D

It's still wattery, so I set the water line lower this time to see if there's a difference.

Looks nice guys. My BK mini 200 is starting to break in. The collection cup neck is getting really thick with nog. I just gotta find a way to convert the sump with some baffles to keepa constant water level. I did find something interesting. When I fed my tank today with mysis soaked in Selcon and vitachem, the skimmer started shaking and the pump made a rattling noise. Is it because of the slimy effect of the additives? Kind of odd.
