Cleaned it once already. I set it up on 10-29 @ 4pm.
I would have to say this skimmer kick butt:D

Where do you have your water line set? Is it above the line marked on the skimmer? Did you get ozone running?

i tried some silicone that I use for my under water housing camera - and while I think it does help the bubbles pop into liquid, I will not be using going forward as long as I don't get a buildup that I think keeps it from operating optimaly - i.e. I don't think my bubble buildup gets in way - the reason I will not use it unless I have to is - when I clean it, I get resudue inside the inner column which would detract from over all skimming (pop bubbles before they float out - all because I am not going to be that picky in cleaning.

What kind of grease are you using? Silicone grease? Where did you get it?

I keet the water just above the black line. I was forced to stop running ozone cause the system is so sensative. It might be that my unit was too small for my system. I am thinking about upgrading to the red sea deluxe 200. Or maybe running a zeovit reactor. Since I disconected my Ozone the bubble king is an animal. My ozone probe was covered with algae and was giving false readings. Since i cleaned it it was working and shut the skimmer down.

thanks - that works

just how much noise does this make?
[The Red Dragon has been developed specially for transportation of large amounts of water at low pressure. Thanks to the magnetic motor and the bearings made of silicium carbide, the energy transfer rates are extremely low. The high capacity makes the Red Dragon Ideal for both salt and freshwater (filter) systems. The pump can be submersed as well as mounted outside of the water. Furthermore, the Red Dragon is extremely durable, consumes very little power and runs very quite.
Specs:
Base Plate - 3 1/2 x 4 3/4
Width from pump end to union fitting: 9"
Height from pump end to union fitting: 10"
In: 2" Union to 1 1/4" Slip
Out: 1 1/4" Union to 3/4" Slip
1188gph - 48 watts

Hi,

The 300 internal we are out of stock, so we didn't update the promo price. If you were interested in a dropship though, we could dropship from factory for $ $1,879.99.

On the Red Dragon pumps, we do not have a decibel rating on them, but we just had a customer replace there Sequence Tarpon with a RedDragon 8 and said it was much more quiet.

thanks

Jason, get a decibel rating on them and the Sequence pumps. Might help you sell considerably more RD's, as I know that I would.

Sequence are external air cooled pumps, or course they are going to be louder than Red Dragons which are water cooled. Red Dragons, unless used as skimmer pumps where other things come into play, are going to be quieter than eheims. Their only downside is that they are not really high-pressure pumps... they are low-wattage, high-flow... like a pond pump.

Quality and noise-wise though, they are better built pumps than eheims, so that should tell you something about how loud they will be.

ok, now a practical question...
I have a 90g mixed reef with a 40g sump. Medium-heavy load bioload (11 fish including 2 smaller tangs) I'm getting more into sps, and need to upgrade my ER 5-3 skimmer. Would it be ok, or wise to go for a 180 mini? Ratings are for 100-200, and I'm in the lower end of that. I've heard of the BK's having such a conservative rating that overskimming is possible (but let's not get into that too much now). I can't foresee getting a bigger tank soon, and if so it wouldn't be bigger than a 120-150g (plus sump) Any thoughts?

How do I place my order to get this discount?

Hi,

Just put a note in customer comments about the special price and we'll update that before we process the order.

Thanks

Im in kinda the same boat,(tank) i mean. I am going from sumpless to running a sump, i have a MCE 600 on a 72gal bowfront currently. I will be adding a 55gal sump. I am looking at a BK180 mini or the 200 supermarina when it comes out. I am worried about the short height of these skimmers, normally taller is better ? I will have 72" of height avaible (custom cabinet being made beside tank" any opoinions or recomedations. I am also looking at the new octopus pro, althought it is not out yet...
