While I didnt get my 180 from PA, I'd have to agree, once you get them set, they just go. I dont think Ive done anything other than empty the cup.

Wow - this thread has made for some interesting reading :rollface: What an awesome looking/performing skimmer.

I bought my original skimmer form PA (ER CS8-2-RC) for a 150 gallon with 20 gallon sump that was basically a FOWLR. Now I've got the same display but with 2 more sumps and a fuge equalling about 225 system gallons, and my system is now SPS only with a moderate fish load. My questions:

1. The ER is rated for "155+", is that skimmer a little too small for my current system?
2. If so, which Mini BK would be recommended for my current size? (I'm land-locked with regards to tank size, so I don't need a skimmer to cover a larger display down the road).

The Bubble King's are very conservative on their ratings. The 180 is rated at 200 gallons, however add about 30% - 40% to that number to get a true rating on what kind of capacity it will handle. The 180 would be fine for what you're doing, but if it's a heavy bioload, or more sps focused, I would lean towards the Mini 200, or 200 DeLuxe if you really want to be safe. HTH!

I just recieved mine today. Amazing looking. The collection cup is huge compared to my Life Reef system.
How long is the break in period?
They should give an owners manuel.
Why does Pro Line say hours of operation 9am to 5pm but never answer the phone?? I want to ask them the best way to tie in my ozone. I have it rigged up for now. I would hate to cut that big hose off the venturi. I have a T fitting sitting in the vent hole and the other end of the fitting has a hose that I stuck into the vent hole on the lid.
So far that is working and the unit is an animal. I bet I have an afro of foam in the morning:)

How about the owners manuel? I read that the new ones will have that. Mine did not.

JNB I just wanted some feed back on BK skimmers . I was planning on getting a mini 200. I'm concerned about availability of parts if a pump or pinwheel goes.
Thanks!

OK. I have decided to order on of these, but I can't decide on which model. I really like to overskim my tanks. (ie I ran a Deltec AP701 on a 30g tank.):) This tank is BB, high fish load, and I feed HEAVY.

Tank= 78g
Sump= 25g
Prop tank= 25g

I originally ordered a 200, but had the LFS cancel it, because I figured a 180 would be fine. I am stuck. I plan to upgrade to a tank with a total of 200g in the next year, but only to about 180g total. I want to get something that will be good for now and after the upgrade. What do you all think?

All i can say is WOW 12 hours later I had my afro of foam:)
I hooked up my Ozone and fine tuned it. It took a few hours to kick in again and I have more dry foam!!! I also have a better PH reading. i guess more 02 production from all of the bubbles.

well - I like it - one of the touts for bk is the drive and I am as confident (more so) that it is more dependable than any others and I don't worry about replacements - when I come to that road I will handle whatever - chances are it will outlast my propensity to get the next best thing. It skims consistently without tinkering which at draws less wattage than my past skimmers inclusing euro, H&S (mine was too big for my system so it fluctuatined too much) and Elo (requires tinkering) - I am very happy - so easy to clean, large cup, coinsistent skimming, quiet, puts out less heat tham others, built to last, pretty - what else can I say

gadget - it soumds like a 180 would be fine if you have room talk to others maybe a 200

Cleaned it once already. I set it up on 10-29 @ 4pm.

Jeremy,
Can you post some detail photos of the Bubble King DeLuxe 200 external ? Also can this be ran off a return line from the tank or will it need a feed pump ? If a pump is the way to go what Sequence pump would you use ? The tank is a 180 with a 70 gal. and a 40gal. sump . A dart will be the return pump to the tank. I have a Iwaki MD 20RLXT but that is way to small for the skimmer right ?

I apologize I have not been able to get the pics. I am no longer working at Premium full-time throughout the week, so my time helping out in the forum, and stopping by the warehouse have been extremely limited.
