Good afternoon,

Just a quick question....can a RBTA split and produce a GBTA??

It sounds odd but my large RBTA split into 3 about 6 weeks ago and one of the splits is definately a nice red colour like the parent whereas the other has no real pink/red colouration and is much greener

Thoughts please

Its probably bleached

Thanks for the reply,

Bleached was my initial thought but after spending 2 weeks in the brightest of light and looking well I'm now not so sure....I always thought that colour might be determined by either genetic make up or conditions but all 3 (Mother and both splits) remained together on the same rock for a month or more before the red split went off and set up home elsewhere which kind of be-bunks this?

The green split remains on the same rock as mom....:love2:

Anyone else have any thoughts??

I believe it is bleached as well. Your clownfish may be too rough on your anemone. From your pictures the anemones are not thriving. You may need to remove your clownfish for a while to try and let your anemones recover.

Split anemones are clones of each other - i.e., genetically identical so they will have the same color properties. However, different lighting conditions or other environmental factors may bring out different colors in clones in different systems or parts of a tank.
