Build thread of the Monterey Marinland 265 84x24x30

Thanks Dave for the Container!

Im putting it to use now:beer:

I just fill it with kalkwasser from BRS. Sits in the spare room.

Aqua lifter pushes water through wall into the sump. Works
What did you end up using for the bulkhead?

I drilled a hole one size smaller than 1/4", then shoved the hard line through.

It may have not leaked just with that tight fit, but then used gel superglue to hold it even more in place

After that dried, I used silicone adhesive on both sides and let sit for a day

Im almost 99% sure the microbubbles are gone after seal repair!

Just seems like small sand particles are moving around now.

Thanks to one of our generous members, we added 6 new SPS frags: Some of you may recognize these from your displays :spin3:

New Additions

New Additions

This is like a tank diary :)

I added a phosban reactor to the mix. Im using BRS GFO at the moment. I dont think I need 2.5 cups worth, but just making sure. I have a chemipure bag also that running small amount of phosphate removal media. I will not being running chemipure any longer after this bag is depleted

I also filled the BRS reactor with carbon, I can read a book through 7 feet of water its so clear. lol

Building the manifold was a great idea. The Reeflo pump is now turned up all the way running two reactors and UV.

I do think I may have too much flow in the sump. Cheato it tumbling.

I also added a BRS dosing pump. So far I love it. I did Alk for 20 mins a day and for been right on for now.

Alk Dripper + Second new pump. Redid stand for it

Reactors that im stoked about

Im in the middle of preparing live rock for refugium. Cheato has been taking for a nice ride in the flow

Coming together. Think I enough timers?

GO PATRIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice job! I've always been told chaeto grows best when it can tumble like that. No idea if its true. But i guess you will find out soon enough :)

Dude... IMO you are asking for a disaster with that aqua lifter set up.

1) the tube out of your storage tank can leak.
2) the hose can get pulled off the aqua lifter and dump the entire contents onto the floor. Of you have a cat, it can take care of that for you. Even chew into it.
3) the aqua lifters diaphragm will develop cracks over time and drain the entire contents into the floor.

just keep the aqualifter higher then the source and you won't have a problem. Lower then the supply and the aqualifter with still siphon water

It seems to be coming along well, like tecdiver mentioned, you are taking a risk plumbing that line like that, it is not that it may leak but simply when it leaks.
I dont understand why you din't just used either a bulk head ($5) or just use some rigid airline and go through the top of the container, I have used those pumps and they can lift the liquid a couple of feet, so you could have go through the top and then raise the pump a couple of feet to compensate.
Also, you may want to consider putting the phosban reactor hanging on the inside of the sump they also leak over time.
Cheers

I noticed in the pics above you have ball valves on both sides of the pump. Which is good. However in the dart post you mentioned you had to drain the sump to change to the new pump----why? Are you saying you had to raise the entire sump? Was it not possible to reduce the size of the little woods under the pump to lower the pump height?

Hi Mark, I had to drain the sump a bit because the left side of the union ball valve started to leak.

If I had to do it again, I would get a union ball valve that unscrews from only the side the pump is on.

Good ideas. Thanks for the phosban warning

Yea, I may drill a hole towards the middle where it wont be exposed to water, and put the aqua lifter on a stand.

I am planning on building another stand to hold a water reservoir and put a frag tank on top. I just need to find the frag tank, so i know the dimension of the stand.

Thanks, I heard that about cheato too. I guess in the ocean, cheato is used to getting tossed around.

I want to create a nice copepod, critter breeding ground eventually.

Im not sure if the flow is going to launch them right off the rocks and cheato. Well see how it goes
