Build thread of the Monterey Marinland 265 84x24x30

quick advise on the controller- either enclose it ( water proof it ) or place it elsewhere, funny how water always finds its way into controllers that are t close to it.

No problem.

I would not risk putting any light or electronics where there is much condensation. I run fans on mine for about 8 hours a day to keep them cool also. not sure if you have that option. Back of my canopy is open

With Leds, what is recommended is: low heat, no water, fans, and splash guard.

Wow, great setup!!! I really love the progress of everything and how neat you have made everything.

Now, I gotta get off my arse and do something to make mine as tidy as yours.

Added few corals from the frag swap. Forgot to post them in the thread.

I will take some more recent pictures soon of how they have settled in or haven't. The Yuma got eaten ) ;

Giving those pests the lethal dip.

Eddie

This one is for you! Can you believe I went over a year without an automatic ATO? I did dial in my outdoor timer rather well though beforehand.

Its about time!!!!!:headwally:

In another pic you mention dosing kalk. How are you doing that? With ATO?

and what is third bottle on right of your two part? Is that Vodka?

Hi Eddie, I am dosing both 2 part(alk + calc) via BRS dosing pumps set at 40 minutes per day.
Also... I dose kalk via my ATO at 1 teaspoon per gallon.

The third bottle is Magnesium, I dump one urine container in manually weekly, along with 10ml strontium and about 50 iodine drops.

No nitrate remover or carbon source needed. My cheato grows so fast its, sick, I should take a picture of how much is in there now. I had a portion the size of a soft ball 2 months ago, now there is about 2 basket balls worth.

Mike- What is that last frag of zoa on the right??

Fruitloop Zoa- Easily, the brightest coral in the tank

Hey mike. Do you put the iodine in all at once. Sounds like alot

Hi Mark. Yes, brightwell aquatics recipe calls for 12 drops per 50 gallons.

I figure 300 gallons is about 50 drops. Who knows if this does anything, but I believe zoas like it.

Tank Progression April 29th 12

Tank Progression April 29th 12

Everything has been doing pretty good. Recently, I sold my 75 gallon set up and moved a few more fish and corals into this display. Its getting filled fast.

On the other hand Im concerned that some colors are losing color.
I think Im bleaching the color out of some corals and im not sure why. I believe the LEDs have much to do with it. They are growing, but some are losing that vibrant color. Maybe someone here has experience with this.

Few Pics
Birdsnest coral love the tank. This one is growing like mad along with the neon green ones.

Mark, my parameters are spot on. Po4 is almost zero and nitrate 5ppm

No need for invite..... me casa su casa. Come by anytime, just call to make sure im home.

Ill post some pics on main thread of examples soon

WOW! Very nice thread. The tank looks awesome. Everything looks very happy! How hard was installing the controller?

Thanks, appreciated.

Installing it was easy, adding a wifi extender was easy, programming was harder than expected. I contacted neptune systems twice with issues. Their customer service is good.

lol, I'll agree with you on the programming but if I had to do it again... NO PROBLEM! Worth every penny to know what your tank is doing 24/7.

Mike I love your tank. It's so vibrant and good combination of softies and sps.
Also, I got the Apex after looking at your set up lol.

Which camera are you using for the pic?

Thanks again Siptang!

I use a Canon T2i

Shooting photography with LEDs is near impossible ( : But.... I try

Actually- with the royal blue and blue lights on solo, when everything looks amazing- It is impossible. :headwally:
