That music made me feel like I was watching one of my kids grow up, I even cried a little I think. JK RN, great job on the video but I really did cry a little.
Nice vid Noob!! I did crack up on the "A Reef_Noob Presentation" bit though
Are you DIYing the LED's? My 2 cents, I've been running LED's for a while now, using all 3w LED's without lenses, don't like the spotting that may happen with lenses, especially in shallower tanks.
Hey Bello!
Coming to LEDs, I'm not DIYin it. Poor electrical skills here
Hm I thought adding lenses spreads the lighting wider. With my current 45 degree lenses the penetration is excellent but spread not that much. But there is absolutely no spotting. IMHO spotting can be a problem if LED diodes with high differences in wavelengths/colurs are mixed together with narrow degree optics in a single system. The colour output doesn't gel together and there will be different hues in different parts of the tank.
Thanks a lot for the input and il definitely keep it in mind.
Congrats on the video RN...at the rate you're going I can't imagine what it'll look like a year from now:thumbsup:
I was laughing...... loudly
You're right about the spotting happening with different wavelength/colours. I've noticed it in mine, as the tank is fairly shallow with a height of 10 inches only.
If I'm not mistaken, LED's without optics have a default spread of 120 degrees, as observed on my G1 & G2 Maxspects.
Good luck with the LED's and awaiting pics, as well as the GHL.

NOob! You put in some work on that video! I for one know what it takes to do all those transitions and text in. You did an amazing job on it! You have to have expierience using an NLE program. WHich did you use?
Hey Chris ya pulling my leg huh :lolspin: What's NLE? First time iv heard that one. Need to look it up lol :hammer:
This is just the 3rd vid iv ever made. 1st was the BK skimmer vid, the 2nd one was of my Potters made and edited on my iPhone.
And now this one just a trial n error attempt on the movie maker
But one thing I wanted to give a nostalgic documenterish feel to this one
Thanks for taking time to view it. And glad ya liked it.
Hi Bello,
Ah yes 120 degrees spread in a shallow reef should be good. But keeping it such wide dispersion will it deliver sufficient PAR for SPS? Hows ur SPS coping up? As i had mentioned my current lenses are 45 degrees definately not enuff spread.
This is my first attempt at anything LED so still learning and experimenting.
Thanks bro, yes il update stuff on the equipment side as soon as I finalize stuff. Thanks so much for tagging along
Why isnt there a FTS in the past 5+ pages on this thread??
Wow not bad for a noob! You really are one of those guys that accels quickly arent you?! Im impressed. NLE is non-linear editing which is the software used to edit ie. sony vegas(which I use and is quite hard), grass valley, adobe cs5 and the like. Its not easy to do and takes time and patience so maybe I need to go back to try windows movie maker if its that easy! It was a good movie and fitting soundtrack and turned out better than a noob production. Good on ya!
Hey Anup....
I don't know the Par on the sandbed, and since my smaller tank is only 10inches tall, it'd be difficult to quote from my experience. Personally, I prefer 'em with out lenses, since it creates a very even look. In any case, it isn't too much work to switch out lenses.
It would be inaccurate to compare with the Maxspects since they have the 30w LED's, but SPS do fine on the sandbed in that 2ft tall tank.
I guess you could just try it out and see?
Oh, and since you have a resplendent angel in your avatar, isn't it time you got one of those?

Agreed :hammer:
Hi Mock,
Hi Kevin,
Sorry about that I was kinda getting addicted to the convenience and accessibilty of my phone camera. :debi:
FTS...will do...stay tuned
