BUILDING A DREAM....SPS Dominated Tank build

Hi Tara3
Thanks for viewing my thread and posting this very informative link :)
Though my LED system doesn't belong to one of the brands tested, mine are using the CREE LEDs. But if you ask me the key factor in any LED system is the driver, which is the heart of the system. Good quality drivers are a must to get the best out of LEDs.
Overall these LEDs I am using does sustain a small reef system but in a bigger system I don't think it will work. Iv noticed the growth rates are not as rapid as under MH or even other brand LEDs, but it is a blessing in disguise as we can enjoy our smaller tanks longer coz SPS doesnt grow and fill out the space within an year and yea no trimming issues :D

New Tank Update...

This is the plan...hopefully the last modifications il need...
My idea is creating something where the Tank and the Equipment are both part of the display....I hope i can succeed in bringing this idea into life....BUILDING A DREAM Part 2...:D

Enclosed a couple pics of the tank, it's a softie tank at my parent's house. I pretty much see it once a week or two, so pretty basic and simple. It's non-tempered.

I think you should be fine with 15mm for 50 cms tall rimless, and that'll definitely help with the sand not blowing around as much. DIY tank?? You're a brave man :), I'm useless at it.

Have you considered going with 60cm width? I'm biased towards wider tanks, even the dropoff is 60cm. It'll give you better minimalist aquascaping options. Dunno if your space permits though.

Starting a new build thread for the new tank? :)

Are those eBay led spotlights?

:headwally:Now your just showing off

Looks great, cant wait to see it come together.

Hi Brett,
:D Not showing off LOL.
Just presenting the work of my busy mind :D and welcoming suggestions from all.
Planning for a reef tank is almost like planning for a building :crazy1:

I am planning to make an all wood stand for the new tank....
Levelling the tank is my worry right now....anyone have any pointers/experience on the use of levelling screws or fittings on the base of the stand? What kind or gauge to get?

any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

My flooring has wooden panelling over tiles....

Tagging along for an answer to your question Reef Noob. I am doing a tank build right now and have the same question about leveling legs.

Hi 06bug...
Thanks for viewing. Glad to know I am not the only one with the "levelling legs" query :D
Hope somebody will give us some insight on the best way of levelling an all wood stand.

I would skip the legs and just use shims if possible. Remember to shim the stand, not the tank.

Thanks Brett. Definately will look into that. But won't shims get damaged if they get wet and the stand lose it's levelling?
I was thinking waterproofing the base of the stand and keep it slightly off floor. Not sure if it's possible.

Plumbing Supplies...
Got the plumbing stuff for the new tank.
I wanna keep the plumbing for the new tank as simple as possible.
First time il be working with Flex PVC :)

Hello Jon!
Thanks a lot for the encouragement bro :)
I wanna get this new tank up and running ASAP, but gotta have patience. I'm slowly but steadily getting the equipments required. Then I will plan out the right dimensions for the stand.
Already ordered the glass....Made in Germany. Dimensions finalized at 165cm L x 60cm W x 50cm H. Glass will arrive this week, then will build the tank on site.

Wish me luck yu guyssss :)
