BUILDING A DREAM....SPS Dominated Tank build

Really nice tank man! :-)

But I'm wondering, whats the app of your camera? How the system work actually? Because I'm really interested to do the same, pretty cool for keep an eye on our baby! :)
Hello Zweebe,
Thanks a lot for the kind words.
It's Trendnet web cam. It's got its own iPhone app. Cam control it via the app. Yes sure is a good tool to keep ur eye on the tank :)

Speaking of which I got this webcam at a clearance sale at a great price....it's gonna be my "Sump cam"

Damn mate, there's some real beauties in that latest batch of additions, watch your alk when those buggers settle and start growing - you know how easy it is to forget the obvious in this hobby even after reefing for years and get caught out by the simplest of things. The more confident we become with our water keeping abilities the more dangerous some things actually become if you think about it. Take alk for example, once you're confident it's locked in you test less often which means if the draw suddenly changes you might miss the change for 5-6 days until you test or see it when you notice acros spitting the dummy. I know you know your stuff but i'm reminding you anyway. :)
Thanks for the video, really demonstrates the versatility of LED's in relation to spectrum. Potters are absolutely stunning and you can only appreciate the subtle colors when you see them in real life, pics never do them justice i think. I'd trust a Potters about as much as i'd trust a council worker to actually dig a hole with the shovel he's leaning on. They're quite often mistakenly photographed by tourists who think they're statues on display by the roadside.............
So how do you think the light setup is going so far mate ? Bloody LED's ruin your acros in pics and i know they're way prettier than your able to show so i rely on your observations more than the pics in relation to colors. A double T5 light unit with say ATI coral + tubes wouldn't cost too much and you could poke it under the LED's and use it for pics - just a suggestion ( DO IT ! ) :p Have you tried using the flash while the LED's are on as that worked ok for me when i was playing around with pics of the LED sump tank. Worth a try with a few different LED spectrums, turn the blues way down and don't trust your eyes as the reef will look ordinary but photograph lots better. Feel free to ignore me if you're a lazy bastard like me lol.
I have to show you my new Lori's Anthias, i could only get the 2 they had but i decided to order 3 more about 30 seconds after seeing them in my tank lol - i now understand why people like them :)

Great work! Will you be able to tell me where did you get this Switch box.
it is very nice that you can control them on/off in one bar.

thanks

Frederick

Dido on where can I get the switch control boxes. Also, how is the balling method working out for you?

Hope everything is ok mate, looking forward to an update when you can manage it. :)
Forget about those Anthias i had, Bello gave me bad advice which got them killed........ bloody Bello.

Beautifully designed system. Bravo! Will be an inspiration to me for sure.

Please PM me about the switch bank units! Thanks in advanced!

The tank is still on...there was a lack of time...
Made a change in scape too...

I will be back...

Pics of stuff that have been happening in past few months...:spin2:

Hi biggles,
Thanks so much mate for the motivation and kind words. Your post made my day. And yes ofcourse thanks a million for the "vote" of confidence hehehe ;)
You are spot on my friend regarding the bonsai scape plan. That's exactly my idea creating a bonsai type outcrop.
Gosh were did ya find those pics....just like my scape!! I dint think my middle scape resembled a bonsai but after seeing the pics you posted...I see the resemblance. Thanks for sharing dude!! Now I feel I achieved something close to nature :)

Coming to Potassium, yes I have been adviced that it does impact colour and most salt mixes show up tad bit less K values and especially for SPS Potassium supplementation is a good idea.
But if you wanna raise K to 400 do it very gradually. Too much K in a short time can cause ill effects, brown film, algae etc.
I always give more attention to the negative or ill effects of a dosing agent rather than just concentrate on the positive effects. Mainly because experience has taught me that in our hobby the negative effects usually hits you first and rapidly. So be cautious my friend :)

Regarding my photographic ability...it sucks I really need to take better pictures and learn.
:lol2: yea I too see some bare rock patches I need to fill up. Just waiting patiently for more SPS to arrive. And yup dremelling too :D coz I know I have big "the tool man"gles on my side.

Thanks mate for the continued support.

Hi! I'm crazy about your scaping so i must ask what dry rock did you use?

Hi YoungREEFA,
Thanks a lot for the encouraging words... :)
I started off with Indonesian and Fiji live rock...they were individual pieces which I cemented together to create a bonsai sorta scape.
Glad a like it..
This was the pic of how I started...but recently iv remodeled it...say more minimalistic.

glad your back with the updates =).. I've been following this thread for a while and am always impressed with every update.. On a side note that dual reactor you have is a seriously good looking piece of equipment.

Yes, looking forward to seeing more updates... hopefully you still have some of those SPS pieces from your last set of coral pics :)

Hi Dapg8gt,
Thanks a lot for following my journey :)
I had this idea for dual reactor that...
- was easy to install
- changing media was easy and less messy
- ran on one pump
- occupied less space
- customizable plumbing
- adjustable flow
- and ofcourse one that looked good ;)

I discussed with SIAM Ocean about my design and they made it a reality.
Each reactor can be disassembled separately without taking out the whole pump-reactor setup out.
