What is VFD? Variable flow?
It stands for Variable Frequency Drive - but I've always liked to think it stands for Variable Flow Device - more applicable to us. :D

Thank you, Sir. That was quick.

BTW - have you noticed I've been spelling your name correctly (2 Ts) for a while now? At my age, things like that tend to slip right by you. :(

no worries, I never noticed until now, maybe that reveals my power of observation

Tom
I ordered acrylic before I saw how you were making your supports. Coming this week, I have 1/4" sheet and 1/2" rod. I will probably put a point on the rod and glue several 3" long pieces to a 4x4 (or 6x6 depending on rock size) sheet to support my rocks. Do I have to recess the holes or will glueing the rods to the sheet work? I've never done this before so any advice will be appreciated. My rock is very porous.
Thanks

I think gluing would be fine, Alan. I used 3/8" and 3/4" because my rocks - I don't know any other way to say this - very large. I just didn't want to take any chances.

wow just got done with this thread and i thought you where going into space when i saw that light setup you have but its looking good cant wait to see some sand, corals, fish in there.

Elliott,
In the video, the sound of the iwaki pump sounds a bit loud. Is this due to the camera mike or is it really that loud? Would you recommend one under a stand, for example?

LobsterMan, SeaIsle, saltyboy84 - thanks for your input.

MO Will - thanks and you're welcome.

ramirifi - the glass is 3/4 inch (19mm) thick

Tom, tons of info from your thread, thanks a lot.
My 215g is on its way, so I borrowed some ideas from you:)
Light rack components shipped already, and RO ATO will be next. Could you post more info about parts for ATO (float switches, float valves, and a solenoid)?
Also where did you buy your storage tanks, online or locally?
Thanks one more time for your very detailed info.
I`ll wait for more
