Great news on the Tunzes!!!
I picked up two 6105 Tunzes from John on Saturday. I'm going to use 4 of them in the 300.

Hey, Mike! Yeah, I think I over did it. I'm starting to think maybe the 6105s would have been enough for my tank too. Do you feel the same about the quality - seems to be very good. These things are pulling a vortex from 6" below the surface. As Ronald would say - I'm lovin' it ....

The quality seems excellent! I also picked up 2 Tunze Rocks that I am modifying to raise the streams up a little further from the sandbed.

I didn't think to look at them - darn. Well the next time I'm at John's. When are you going to start your new build thread? Everyone's waiting, you know. :D

I made it to the end!!!! :)

Nice setup you have so far. I am a little confused how the skimmers are set up (it looked like two inputs to me) but that is most likely because I didn't look hard enough, and know nothing about those skimmers.

Tagging along for the ride.

I thought I should say, it's been brought to my attention that it seems I am trying to take credit for originating some of the ideas that I have been incorporating in my build. Should anyone else be getting that impression, I sincerely apologize. When I used an idea where I knew who the originator was, such as Jb NY and BeanAnimal, I gave direct credit. I will continue to do so.

For those ideas that I knew I had seen somewhere but could not remember the source, I made the following statement in my first post in this thread: ... almost without exception, ALL the ideas you will see in this project were taken from the great threads I found here on Reef Central. The amount of info on RC is incredible â€"œ and I took full advantage of it.

I have always tried to give credit, where credit is due.

Azazael13, OnlyCrimson - thank you for your kind words.

Each skimmer has its own input. The outputs are joined.

Glassreef,

I remember you writing that and you deserve a TON of credit for stepping up to the plate like that from the get go. Not many people are willing to say what you did that first day.

Keep up the great work,
Robb

Robb in Austin - thanks, Robb. Your comments are really very much appreciated.

robert bell - I'll have about an inch of sand. I want it to be shallow enough so that - (1) vacuuming is possible and (2) a 6 to 9 month replacement schedule can be maintained.

Tom, what's the reason for replacing the sandbed?
Hey Mike! Just my quirkeyness, really. In the past I had a very bad crash that I've always blamed on the DSB flipping on me. Every since then I've had SSBs which I replace at a rate of about 10-15 percent per month. Haven't had any problems since. Sand is always nice and clean and no clumping. The replacement process doesn't seem to do any harm to the animals.

I have been lurking around these forums for a while, and I just read this whole thread from the beginning. I have fallen in love with this build!! I have bookmarked this for the endless resources for my future set-ups.

Keep up the good work!

reefrubble - thank you very much, Ted. I seem to remember some pretty great projects in your back yard.

Byronc - first of all:

Thanks for the very kind words. They are much appreciated.

Hey Tom,
DId you have a parts list for the components of your light rack. I went to the website you recommended, but there are a lot of different types of the aluminum channel. If you've got a parts list that would be great. I just want to be sure to get the right stuff. Thanks!
