Hi guys,
I've got a tank full of tangs. It's a big tank, all the fish are healthy and fat. No police needed here
The full list of tangs is
N. literatus - Lipstick tang - 24cm
A. olivaceous - Orange Shoulder tang - 20cm
A. thompsoni - Thompsons tang - 16cm
P. hepatus - Regal Tang - 10cm
A. nigricans - Teardrop tang - 13cm
Z. veliferum - Sailfin Tang - 10cm
Z. flaviscens - Yellow Tang - 11cm
Tank size is 180G (I'm upgrading shortly to a 450G).
The only drama I'm having is that I'm trying to introduce a small A. nigricans x A. leucosternon (about 9cm) hybrid into my tank (Teardrop/Powder black x Powder blue) with a resident A. nigricans and A. olivaeceous. Both of these fish are harrying the new guy, but the nigricans was the worst by far.
I've managed to trap the nigricans and he's inside the display just in a cordoned off area (with egg crate). My question is, is this enough to ensure he 'forgets' his surroundings and won't bother the new guy when I re-release him back into the display.
I have previously used this technique to great success when I first introduced my A. nigricans and the resident A. thompsoni was bashing the crap out of him (to the point of the nigricans had open wounds). I sumped the thompsoni for a week, re-added him and pretty much the reverse happened to a much lower extent. The nigricans was aggresive towards the thompsoni, but only to a mild chasing rather than slashing.
