Burney falls

In all fairness, that's why the Elements product exists.

Personal ethics are never someone else's fault.

As you know elements just doesn't have the functions and features. Which is why it's less expensive, I realize that, and Gimp is free, and on and on and on...

The more a piece of software is deemed useful, the more it will be pirated if not generally and easily available. Photoshop has to be one of the most pirated pieces of software out there... I simply wonder, if it was available at an inexpensive price-point would they sell significantly more copies?? I believe the answer is yes... (but I'll admit my market research is lacking.. hahaha)

Could it be cheaper for adobe even? If they didn't have to maintain elements just to address a price-point adverse market segment?

And BTW, personal ethics are a reflection of ones values in terms of what is right and what is wrong created by the social norms the individual is/was surrounded by... therefore they are by definition, someone else's fault, or at very least heavily influenced by someone else.

PS: I'm 36hrs into quitting smoking, again, so if this was harsh... flame me... cause my jittery, non-smoking butt is twitchy.... and looking for a release... :)

BTW - Louis, my rant wasn't really directed at you. It's just a peeve of mine. I am a self-admitted copyright nazi.

No worries Doug. You make good points. Truth is I paid $1600 for the entire suite when it was like PS 6.0 or 7.0 with "Go-Live" and the other programs. Upgraded to CS version at some point. A friend happened to have the CS3 and it was an offer I couldn't refuse (free). Ethic and moral issues aside, the software as good as it is, is quite outrageously priced. Just my opinion, but then again I didn't write it's code etc so what do I know about it's value.

PSCS.xxx or any version for that matter was a graphic arts software that happened to work really well for Photographers. Seems like Adobe saw the huge market potential and geared some of the upgrades to make it even more suitable for photographers. Now they seemed to have branched off and Developed Lightroom directly aimed at Photographers. I bought Lightroom (a legit licensed version directly from Adobe btw) but really haven't used it that much. What I REALLY like about is it's ability to compare side by side images (great for finding the tack sharp needle amongst many frames of the same subject) and tag/catagorize. On my relatively new Dell with 3gb RAM I still find it frustratingly slow though so it rarely gets used. ALos I am pretty well aquainted with PS so use it easier. If it ran a little quicker I might be more incline to engage the learning curve and pursue it more.

Anyway......I used PS 6.0 for a long time without any issues! I think the only reason I upgraded the first time was for the browsing options and because I "went digital" with the "new" RAW files. If you are just looking for "framing" your images and adding watermarks just look online for some tutorials for your PS7.0. What you want to do (and a lot more) is really pretty simple and there are tons of free tutorials online. If you wanna pay check out Lynda.com - they have some good stuff (tutorials)

Sorry for the run on.
