has or does anyone have butterflies in there anenmone tank, will be setting my wifes tank up soon(60g starfire cube)....for an anemone tank, clownfish, and want to add my favorite butterflies.....cant add to my tank...so hers will have to do.....any ideas?......

Mike, I'm at a similar decision point. I have a 75g anemone tank with 10 good anemones and way too many aiptasia. I want to add a copper banded butterfly along with the 2 clowns and 1 blennie that are in there now. Hope somebody has some experience with this. I have had a butterfly in my DT with a couple of RBTA and there wasn't any problem.

The concern for me would be the butterflyfish being killed by your clowns... usually by starvation.

I agree. Unless you have a special way to feed your butterflies, your clownfish would likely out compete them for food.

And yes, some butterflies could damage your anemone. It would depend on what species of butterfly you wanted to add, since they have specialized but differing diets.

I was wondering about the semilavarios butterflies(yellow/tourq)....they are my favorite butterflies.....and was wondering if they would pick at the anemone,if they(butterflies) would pick at,then the clownfish may have a problem?.....they would most likely defend they there host?.....

Had a Red Sea Golden C. semilarvatus/BTA E. quadricolor without any trouble. It destroyed snails and nipped at some of the corals. Be aware that they grow surprisingly fast and can get large for a BFF, should be able to hold it's own against nasty clowns.
