CAD Lights 45g Shallow

Your tank is pretty much the same dimensions as mine, subscribed :)

I could go for a fiji bitter right now, been almost 10 years

Tank looks great so far! I'll be curious to see how you like the Vertex 130.

I love it so far. I read a lot of the bad reviews and issues people were having with it but I had a theory and it seems to be correct. With the amount of air it pulls in relation to the body and neck size it just needs to be run in shallow water and you have to run the water level in the skimmer far lower than most skimmers. It takes awhile for the foam head to get built up but it is working great and has stayed very consistent. I am running it in 6.5" of water and I have the water level below the half way point in the body. I think most people who are having issues are running the skimmer in 8"+ of water and have the water level in the skimmer an inch or two below the neck union. For most skimmers that would work fine, but the Omega 130 pulls so much air for its size you have to give it way more room for the foam to build.

Took some frag photos, these are my first attempts at actinic macros, some are decent, some came out grainy, Anyone know why and/or how to fix that or is it just the quality of my camera and lens? Anyway, here's a few that came out decent

Aqua SD Rainbow

Strawberry Shortcake

CJ Pinky

Tierra Del Fuego

Sniper Bubble Gum

and last but not least, the WD! I never saw this color until I put it under the Hydra fixtures, Greg C told me its because of the deep blue LED's

Yum yum yum......... i don't know how i missed your journal mate, going to be a very cool acro display to watch grow :)

Nice photos! The graininess is likely due to the camera setting the ISO too high which it would do since you're taking actinic shots which has a lot less available light.

Please post some daylight photos of the sps in the 50G using the DSLR camera. Thanks.

Yeah I've noticed the same. Tricky guy to dial in no matter what ha.

Corals are all looking great looks to be a great build so far!

How is the tank doing? How are the Acro colouration under the Hydra's?

Hey Bud, sorry for the lack of updates, been super busy lately. I battled a diatom outbreak for a few weeks and the coral browned a bit but everything has cleared up and colors are looking good again. I am very happy with the Hydra's, I'll try and get some pics up tonight

Are you running Hydra 52s?how many? for some reason I don't have great success with SPS with my 52 HDs just bought a T5 unit out of impulse don't know if I'm going the right direction. But wee will see.

Sorry that it took so long to update, unfortunately the 45 g is no more. My 720g had a seem fail and I had to get rid of all the livestock. In an attempt to try and save some of my favorite fish and coral I switched out the 45g for a 70g because it fit in the same stand. It was an impulse decision that was not well thought out. It caused a chain reaction and I lost near everything I put in from the 720 as well as the frags I had in the 45g. Everything was just so rushed I didn't think everything through. I won't be updating this thread anymore but I am rebuilding the 720g system using a new tank from a different manufacturer. I will start a new thread soon. Thank you to everyone who followed this thread
