Cadlights 22 gallon with 144 HO T5's

the T5 units being used could be alot more effective if they had individual reflectors.

your copper frame will turn green in some areas due to salt splash and high humidity. otherwise it looks really nice.

everyone elses setups look good.

looking real good.

I just bought the same tank and already want to upgrade to the 25 before the water has even made it in. Since I haven't filled yet, it was nice to hear about the pump issue and I will need more than just another MJ 400 as I was planning. This is my first nano, so I will be checking in on this thread alot.

i know brett...i got my tank in the mail, and the next day the 25 was released. oh well....wasnt about to box it back up.

i changed out the stock RIO 1100 for a mj1200 return pump then swapped again for a mj900......the combo of the aquaC's skimmer mj1200 and the return mj1200 got the tank too hot.

so the mods are.....swap stock return for mj900, get 2 tunze 6025's, thatll give you over 800 gph with only one tunze on.

slap on a skimmer, and you are ready to rock.

also go halide, the stock T5's are weak, sell the stock fixture and buy a aqua medic or pfo mini pendant....it is sooooo much better now, the corals reacted immediately, instant polyp extension.....i should of known better.

thanks.

I am actually going to see if I can get any takers on the 22 in the next week (while I am getting a stand) and maybe just get the 25. the 150 MH looks nice and the T5's on the fuge are great. I have the 22 with the T5's and also acquired another cadlight tank with no pump or lights. I was going to make it a frag tank, but might sell it also to put towards the 25G. I doubt I can get what i am looking for.

I am not sure I will spring for the Tunze's, but I have some 1200's laying around which will be easy to convert. I am going to put one of those attachemnts on that just spin as the water goes through it for the return.

I can't believe it only took 16 gallons!

as you can see, you really dont need all that back room of the 25, unless you want the fuge, which i am not running. chaeto will not grow in this nutrient poor tank...

I really liked all of the back room of the 25 and the halides. Would I be ok growing some of the tougher montis, torts, acro, etc. with the T5's or no?

I just thought the fuge would help with any algae growth that might want to spring up. I was planning on putting down a small layer of sand, just for the look.

After seeing the tank, I am too anxious to wait a couple weeks and try to get a 25. How much does that MH cost that you have? is it hung all the way from the ceiling?

yes hung from ceiling....looks real slick.

ballast is under desk to the left of the tank.

the fixture on that 25 is going to cook the tank, too low....my pendant sits 8 inches off the top of water....temp is a cool 79.

the T5's will work for you fine. i must say though that all my frags perked up a lot after adding the MH...if you saw it in person youd sh*tcan the T5's...so pretty, the shimmer!

i have the aqua medic 150 watt DE HQI with 20k bulb. bought from hellolights.com. no need for actinincs as there is plenty of blue with this bulb. i have a thelebos.com moonlight for evening viewing...
