Calcium reactor material depleting fast

I have a korlian for my 700 gallon reef setup. It seems that it is dropping the level of the material fast. My levels are at 8 alk and calcium is 420 both alittle low but does not seem like the calcium reactor can keep up. Orp is at 646 and the bubbles on the co2 are 3 a second or so. the effluent is a steady stream in the tank. Is this normal? I have alot of acros so maybe the high use, the unit is rated for 1600 gallons.

Media usually desolves faster when the PH gets to low in the reactor. I'm pretty sure under 6.5 will melt the media. The Bubble count might be turned up to high. The effluent generally shouldn't be a steady stream. I would do 1-2 bubbles a second and 30-60 drops effluent a minute. If you find the reactor isn't keeping up you might have to add kalk to your top off water. I'm dosing 2 part now a days so you should independently verify everything I just told you about calcium reactors. : )

im having to do a stream coing out just to keep alk at 8. I have kalk but never set up doser or anything. I hear that calcium reactor only holds calcium level and does not increase it is that true?

What is the pH of the effluent or are you controlling the reactor/co2 via a controller?
Somewhat correct on the calcium level: A reactor is used to maintain levels, after its been buffered to the desired level.

you can raise the calcium in an aquarium with a calcium reactor, you just dont want to.
