Calcium Reactor Questions

Guys,

Spring is almost here and it's time to start gearing up for the 150 (finally!).

I am confused about a calcium reactor for my tank and trying to piece everything together from your web site. I know I want the Geo since the reviews are favorable but what exactly do I need to order?

Here's what I think I need:

single chamber calcium reactor (GEO) - $280
M3 Deluxe CO2 Regulator with Solenoid $145
M3 CO2 Tank - 5 lb - empty - $75
Koralith Calcium Reactor Media - 15 pounds $40
METALLIC CHECK VALVE - BRASS AND FOR PRESSURIZED REACTOR USE $35
Maxijet 1200 Powerhead $19

Is this right? Dang, didn't realize I would be spending nearly $600 clams for a calcium reacotr :eek2: .

Anyway, if you could help me figure out the calcium reactor pieces and parts, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Jeff,

You pretty much nailed it. The only item you really do not need is:
METALLIC CHECK VALVE - BRASS AND FOR PRESSURIZED REACTOR USE $35


The geo reactor comes with a check valve, it's not metallic, but we have had some issues with the metallic ones, so at least right now, we are not recommending those.

These are some pricey units, but your replacement cost is really low, basically for calcium and strontium you just need to buy CO2 gas and Koralthmedia, so you probably won't spend much more then 20-40 bucks a year to run it.
