calcium reactor supply feed pump?

Hello all,

Lately I've been having some problem with my calcium reactor clogging up. Currently I'm using a tom's aqualifter pump as a supply feed on a Knopp model C calcium reactor. I was having that problem when I had the reactor first setup, then it went away for a while and now it's acting up again. I'm assuming the supply feed is to weak. Any suggestions? I've heard of people using a maxijet powerhead as a supply feed, but how do you fit it to a 1/4" tube? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

It could be that your ph is too low and turning your media into mush that's that's clogging it up. How low is the ph on the effluent?

If your looking for fittings, try the plastic ones at HD or Lowes in the plumbing section. Take note of Inner diameter (ID)and outer diameter (OD). Sometimes you can just fit one tube into another without them leaking, if you can't find the right size adapter. Or you might need to find a tube that fits the Power head then attach the 1/4" adapter to the tube, if the adapter has threads or is barbed.

Hey Xia,

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to check me effluent sometime this weekend. In the mean time I actually increased the drip rate a tad bit and that seem to fix the problem temporarily.
