Do calcium reactors have to be clear?

Hi there,

was wondering if calcium reactors have to be clear? I’ve got a great working diy design for one using RO canisters however struggling to find the clear tube of suitable price.

I get the advantage of immediately knowing where your media is at but surely lifting the lid and just checking does the same thing.

Duzzy, no, they don’t have to be clear. When reactors first came into the hobby, we visually inspected the media to know when to replace it. As long as you are proactive in replacing media you should be fine.

Thank you I appreciate it.
