Cali Tort

My Cali Tort isn't branching like i expected. i bought the frag back in oct/nov cant remember which but its def shown alot of growth but its not showing any signs of branching like i expected

snip the tip. Frag it about an inch down, this forces it to branch.

I've read laying them on there side "encourages" branching

Patience... It will get there I have two and they actually branch pretty well can't grow straight up forever

I've had (on occasion) success with clipping the tips. But if you have patience eventually it will start to branch.

To be very honest with you she looks a little pale. It's also missing the green undertones that a Cali tort has. Give it time to fully adjust to you lighting and water before doing anything else. By the way nice find what ever it is.

It will encrust at the base more first and then branch from the side.

Clip a piece of the top if you want it to branch.

I had mine for a year before it started branching and now it's got 5 branches. It has to fully encrust and get a solid footing before it starts branching out. Patience. What I usually do is buy another nice piece to look at so I can stop staring at the one that's not growing and before you know it. It grows. The old saying a watch pot never boils lol. Just walk away

watch out...it can become a fast grower! mine is more purple than anything

I don't think that's a blue tort coralites and growth pattern look different

its definitely a cali tort, got it directly from a LFS. unfortunately, its positioned more under my vho's which give probably give it the more purple color. the growth form is wildly random

I just picked up a tiny frag of ready for this? Cali tort true Oregon tort and Ora tort, and they are all different

Post some pics to see the difference . I just picked up a tort myself. It's thick and blue like an Oregon tort but has green hue's like a Cali.
