Calling all Bean Animal style overflow users!

I'm planning my dream tank, 120" x 36" x 24". I want to use two 24" external overflows along the back. I'd like to use the Bean Animal style overflow system. My question is this, will running two of them on the same tank cause any problems? My friend's old tank had two corner overflows on his 180 with a durso standpipe in each. I'm not sure what was causing it, but for some reason one of his dursos would freak out every now and then and do the toilet bowl flush thing. I just want to make sure I don't make a huge expensive mistake. I'd love to hear from someone who has experience running a dual bean animal overflow. Thanks!

I want a eurobraced tank with no center brace. The more shallow the tank, the less pressure there will be on the tank walls and therefore less chance of problems in the future. My current tank is 30" tall. I hate wasting 400 watt lighting on a tall tank and I REALLY hate having to take my shirt off every time I work on my tank. The shallow tank look has grown on me. It will also be open top so I don't think it will look uneven really. Most tanks with canopies that I've seen (including mine) have a 1.5" - 2" lip on the canopy and a 1.5" - 2" lip on the stand. If I eliminate these it will look taller in my opinion. I'm going to go with a bare bottom and won't need the lip on the bottom to hide the sand line.

remember your water level will be even lower then the 24....

so like 23... that will be a long low tank...

i would say you want 27 or so inches high

I have a 450g DT 96"X40"X27"h...with two 24" corner overflows, each with the 3 drain, bean overflow, return pump is a Hammerhead (also supplies skimmer and frag tank), but still a lot of flow to tank...it is running perfect, and QUIET since start up 6/5/10
If you'd like, I can PM you the link to my build thread on Manhattan Reefs...
here is video of tank

I have a 29" tall tank using 250 but I know it's a lot easier to maintain 24" tall tank. Good luck

My 211 has two drains like that, they are 1.5" pvc, they start in a coast-to-coast overflow and they go 8' to the garage. Here's the deal: One is unvented and functions as a siphon. It handles a large amount of water (my return pump is a Reeflo Dart Super Gold). The other pump is vented and functions as a backup/emergency route. Currently something like 95% of the water goes down the unvented pipe. They are not completely identical; the siphon pipe has a gate valve so I can control the level in the overflow trough. Without that there is occassional "gulping" of air by the siphon, like a big sssslllluuuurrrrpppp.!
