Calvin415's ADA 60-P Build

Tank looks great. Just one problem, wheres all the booze for the vodka dosing, if you know what I mean. It is a bar afterall. :)

LOL! Sorry, we don't drink. ;) I'll save it for the fish. :D

Truly is a beautiful tank. The entire setup and design is very well thought out.

Thanks!

I finished the Turf Scrubber the other night, I'll get some pics once I remember to re-charge my camera battery...

Began water tests the last 2 nights:

3/8
Ammonia .25 ppm
Nitrites .25 ppm

3/9
Ammonia .12 ppm
Nitrites 1.0 ppm
Nitrates 15 ppm

Thanks!

Parameter check:
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 1.0+ ppm
Nitrates 15 ppm

Added a pinch of sugar, hope that speeds things up.

Turf scrubber is up and running, I may make some tweaks down the road, but I'll only know the bugs as they arrive...

Entire scrubber is build with just two of these, they are held in place with magnets:

And the guts: I tee'd off the return line with an inline valve to control flow, connected to an elbow and capped piece of pipe which has a slit in the side to hold the screen:

Thanks, yes I'm planning on SPS on top, LPS on the bottom and a few zoo rocks here and there...

I too have been thinking about an anemone tank, probably BTA only species tank, perhaps an ADA 30-c.

Update: sorry for the lack of pdates, i went skiing last week and didn't want to come back but the tank was running like a champ upon my return. All I had to do was empty the skimmer cup and clean the glass.

Did a full parameter check:
Ammonia 0ppm
Nitrites 0ppm
Nitrates 0ppm
pH 8.3
Temp 76*F
Salinity 1.025
Phosphates .08ppm
Alk 3.5 meq/L
Calcium 475ppm
Magnesium 1275ppm

I got my 2 part all mixed up (10 x 1L bottles of each part) and my dosing pump all figured out, but everything is right where it needs to be so it's off for now. Once I get some Ca hogs I'll get it really dialed in.

Need to increase my clean up crew to take care of some of the algea that's growing in the tank (will be done on Wednesday) but the turf scrubber is growing nice green algea like mad right now... Chromies ended up fighting so I'm down to 1 of those guys, but just added 5 baby cardinals (1 didn't make it through the night) as well as I picked up my scoly and fungia plate. Once I have the algea in the tank eaten up, I'll post some more pics.

Your chromis looks so cool!

Thanks!

Update:

I drained the sump and shop-vac'd it dry to give it a good cleaning, then refilled it to do about a 30% water change. Trimmed the turf scrubber, wiped down the glass and took some pics. :) Please excuse the algae in the tank, my clean up crew has been in for only 2 days but are making quick work of it...

Thanks bud! Good to hear from you again!!! Took down the big one because of a number of issues... First was the time it took to do anything with it. Cleaning the acrylic took me 45-60 minutes... If I wanted to watch a movie, I needed to lower the pendant (it partially blocked the projector) and when I was done watching a movie I had to raise the pendant (too bright for the corals). Not a big deal, but this one weighed about 100lbs so it was not an easy task. :( Needless to say, while I miss having the full bar a tank, I absolutely love the way this one has turned out thus far. :)

Thanks Ange062, I have seen ADA tanks in the past, and until you see them in person can you truely appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into building them! Not a single detail is missed! I'm an acrylic guy, and I have to tell you, these tanks are nothing short of amazing! I can't wait to finish stocking it with some crazy SPS pieces.

Update: I added 2 dragon pipefish last night to add some thing unique to the tank, so far they are doing great. I hope to add some pod cultures to my setup so I can continue to keep them well fed.

Teaser for the week... I will be adding the pinnacle of the tank (IMO) next week... Just waiting for it to acclimate to it's current surrounding before moving it again.

Here's today's work, 1 week of growth...
