can BTA's be in the same tank as LTA's?

Yes they can be together..just know that btas will move. My gbta haven't moved off the rock its on. I bought the rock the anemone was attached to. This could be the reason why it haven't moved yet.

I don't think anemones will sting each other, even if its a different species. Unless you have a carpet, they are aggressive. So its safe to say a BTA will live beside a LTA,

Hmm interesting, I was under the impression you could have as many of the same type of anemone touching but you couldn't have a LTA touching a BTA.

Any more insight?

DO NOT PUT BOTH TOGETHER. the two will sting each other. two of the same species will even sting each other. i had two bubbles in my tank and had to get rid of one because it stresed the other one out. they are very toxic and can be very dangerous to the touch. even though they may be the same species the two will fight till one dies. iv had this happen but never had a death. not to sound mean but i dont want you to regret this.

I think your situation was more of a unusual incident. Ive never even heard of actual accounts of this happening. Ive kept diff. species together and know many people who have also.. I mean they even keep the anemones usually all in the same tank at the LFS..

I would lean more to think that it was something else that stressed out your second bubble anemone. Most people will say to try and keep them from being able to touch, but even then, Ive never actually seen or heard of two killing eachother or fighting.

I think that it is fine to keep two nems in the same tank.. especially if they are the same species.

Try it for yourself, thats the only true 'answer' you will get.

I belive that you can keep the two different types in the same tank. The LTA will stay in the sand down low while the BTA likes to live in the rocks up higher.

I have 2 BTAs and 2 RBTAs that all share the same rock, no problems. The only time I have a problem was when I had a condi in the tank. Apparently you can't mix Atlantic and Pacific anemone.

Mixing the same species together has never been an issue for me. I have done it with Haddonis, LTAs, and BTAs --- to the point where they are touching each other.

As for mixing different species, that is going to be hit or miss. I had no issues with BTAs and Haddonis together, but didn't have good luck with a LTA and Haddoni. Personally I don't do it any more, just one less variable I have to worry about if one of the anemones is acting up.

Oh I was going with the original question.:)
AB-Bug Are you talking about the purple one? If so, its a purple LTA..the one in my avatar is a carpet.

Well not that I'm an expert on nems but after spending the last couple months working and diving in the Micronesian islands it's very common to see a large group together here in the wild with what def appears to be different species all intermingled with the same family of clowns hosting all of them. specifically the BTA and LTA's seem perfectly happy together. I'll try and get a couple pic's the next time I go out.

mlb75 ooo ..that would be a beautiful sight, please do post those pictures. You will have me all jealous..sigh. The closest I have been to saltwater lately is in my tank:( I need to go diving in the ocean again, freshwater is boring.

Well I had a bta in my 29 gallon and an LTA. They never touched each other but the BTA died after a few months. Not sure if it was chemical warfare or not. They had plenty of light. (250 watt Halide) Maybe the smaller tank.

The LTA is happily growing in my 75 now.
