not the best picture but its the only one where i have both of them in it

see my avatar. had that fish for years and then some contractor pulled the wrong plug while doing some work on my house last january(we with the inlaws for a few days while work was being done) and the tank temp fell to about 40* all I have left is a Koran angel. corals, clowns, everything but the angel died.

It's been years since I've seen solid yellow specimens. Those were transhipped directly from the Red Sea, the captive ones are still nice, however they lack the bright yellow colors and don't 'pop' like the WC ones. One of my all time favorite clowns.

stykthyn - great looking fish, sorry to hear about the loss. such a fragile hobby. was that wild caught or ORA?

ali - i see them pop up on red sea tranship lists, but have never ordered them for fear i would receive the brown versions for their expensive price....

kerusso - do you have any recent pictures?

they were bred by ORA. they started yellow and slowly got darker as they got older. great fish though and had awesome personalities.

I've seen the Red Sea shipments come in mixed. Sometimes they come in dark brown, sometimes yellow. I've seen some HUGE 5" bright yellow specimens. Unfortunately, over the last few years I've only seen the brown ones come in...

Oh, Ron, you might find this hard to believe (Even I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it with my own eyes), but in one of the Red Sea shipments in Summer of 07 a LFS around here got, there was actually a Omanensis clown mixed in. Unfortunately it died of a couple weeks later of brook. I was with Jake Adams, and he actually was the one who spotted it. At first glance I thought it was an Akindynos, then thought...'WAIT a second, this is R.S. not Australia..." Joe Russo took some pictures of the fish at my house. Hopefully he still has the pics somewhere. I'm still kicking myself for not freezing the specimen. It was a gorgeous fish, darkish colored similar to the Akindynos but more maroonish, huge swallow tail, black pelvic fins. There is actually a chance it may have been a hybrid Bicinctus/Oman, as there are reports of them hybridizing in the Red Sea region.

I think I still have a few pics of what Ali is talking about in terms of the bright yellow wild bicinctus clowns. They were amazing the one I purchased had the same swallow tail as the Omans. I'll see if I can find the pic this weekend. It was hosting in one of the very first red/orange carpets I saw at a LFS back in 04'-05' :D

OMG! That is my unicorn fish for sure!!! I would kill for a Oman Clown :fun2:(...ok maybe not).

Can you post/email photos if you find them? Ok... back to the beautiful Bicinctus Pics.

Gorgeous fish isseym328.

Unfortunately I had these two fishes back in the days when I only had a 20g setup with Pc's. It's around the same time I found the danae. So actually that's back in 2002 I think. Seriously since that time I have not seen these beautiful bright yellow specimens available. I'm thinking part of the reason is because we have breeders now for these fishes. Ali you would have more opportunities to find these guys at the wholesalers. Nothing?

Remember those solid black tricinctus clowns with three white stripes. Those were awsome too.

Yeah I think it was around 02 when I saw the bright yellow bincinctus come in.
And James, don't mention the solid black tricinctus, I actually stumbled across two juvis not too long ago and passed on them. Still kicking myself for that too...

I have recently read that there is an intermediate between bicinctus and omanensis to be found on the yemen cosat it has wider bars than omanensis, but it is not known if it is a different species or not. Anyone heard anything similair?
