Can I have a blue tang and 75 clowns in a 60 gallon tank?

Of course I can!

My anemone and clownfish tank is finally done. It contains four S. gigantea, one H. magnifica, and 75 baby Onyx percula clowns (babies from my C-Quest/Rod's Onyx pair).

This rimless 60 gallon tank replaces the two 30 gallon flats that I used to have. I decided to go with plexi instead of glass (the price for the glass tank pushed a new tank out of budget) so we'll see if I can keep it clean without scratching it. The external overflow allowed me to completely aquascape the entire 48" x 24" footprint.

The left side of the tank has three S. gigantea: a green, a purple, and a multicolor:

The right side has a blue gig and purple H. magnifica:

FTS (placing it in front of the windows allows for natural sunlight for both the tank and mangroves):

I guess it wouldn't be complete without a video:

Nice tank. Really interesting breeding setup underneath it too. Are those Onyx babies?

Thanks. Yes, they're Onyx babies. This is the third batch I've raised. In past batches, not all were what I would consider Onyx. Some I would classify as "fancy perculas."

Well Played! (drool)

I've been thinking about getting one of those shallow 48"x24" footprint tanks. Also looking at the Aquamaxx 64.2 rimless 47.3x17.8" footprint rimless which would fit the space by my window better, only when accounting for it's 12mm glass, it'll hold ~55gallons and offer less real estate than even the DeepBliuePro 48x24x12H 60gallon aquarium.

Hopefully the anemone's will be more inclined to spawn as well from the window exposure.

Hopefully. The moon phases are only part of the equation. It'll take a lot of luck to get these guys (and gals) to spawn.

Looks good D-Nak! Best of luck to your breeding project!

Thanks. I wouldn't necessarily call it a breeding project, but it would definitely nice to see some sort of breeding activity.

Nice set up and video! What are you using for flow in your tank?

Right now I'm only running a Jebao WP25, but it actually provides quite a bit of flow. I can't use certain settings because it creates a sand storm on the opposite end of the tank. I also have a Vectra M1 return pump that provides circulation to the main tank, as well as four 17 gallon tanks sitting below it.

I looked at the Deep Blue but it's 1/2" too big to fit in the location of my old 30 gallon tanks. The bottom rim adds to the total dimension, something I forgot to consider when I was building the stand. I also wanted an external overflow this time around, and since it was a custom tank I placed it on the center back and made it extra large.

Wow very nice. I will be hoping to do the same soon with my clownfish babies. Is your breeding setup on the same system?

Yes, everything is on the same system. I have a large Trigger sump (Tideline 48) that sits below the 4 tanks you see in the photo. It's got an ATB 840 skimmer and a Vectra M1. I just bought two MarinePure blocks which will replace the coral rubble. I also have a 80 watt UV which I haven't installed yet.

I had been planning on going with the MarinePure bricks myself but so many members have steered me away from it because my goal is to keep nems in my tank. Apparently they leech aluminum on the Triton tests.

I had the same fear but it sounds like it's not warranted. See this thread:

Since Dr. Foster & Smith had a 25% off sale today, and the bricks were included in the sale, I decided to go for it.

I will definitely let everyone know if something strange happens, but based on what people are telling me, it should be fine.
