Can I keep one here?

Im probably going to go with the N wennerae. and a 10g glass tank. What tank mates or cleanup crew will not get eaten.

You might be able to keep a fish with an N. Wenn. I'd go with a damsel since they're super cheap, active, and aggressive. I've had one with my G. Chiragra for about a year with no harm done to the damsel or mantis. Almost any invert that's a part of your cleanup crew will get eaten, but if you feed your mantis frozen food (shrimp, squid, scallops, etc.) the cleanup crew will probably last longer. I end up buying new crabs/snails about every 1-2 months.

Sea cucumbers are probably not a good idea because if the mantis decides it is food, and attacks it will release toxins in the water that could kill everything in asmall system. Unless you run alot of carbon or it is a small cucumber, and even then I don't know how poisonous they are...

urchins may work, they may not. depends on mantis. My understandingis brittle stars tend to do better....try a small urchins. It won't hurt too much. Worst case scenario mantis eats it and your out 5-10 bucks or however much you pay for it.

brittle stars WILL not be all right. nothing is really mantis safe. they just have a better chance of survival than urchins. make sure you avoid green brittles.

y what? why are they not mantis proof? because mantids are fully capable of killing themif they feel like it.

why not the green brittle stars? because they can go predatory. they are known to take out fish while they sleep. I never figured out why the fish or whatever prey couldn't just wake up and escape... i mean brittles aren't exactly strong or fast. and im sure a mantis could fight it off... but meh *shrug*

soft corals for me! well... so far i only have watermelon shrooms but i plan on getting other corals of course.
