Hey guys, as I get closer and closer to me getting ready to add water to my tank, I need to decide on rock. I just gotta connect the plumbing to my sump and then get the funds for the rock and im ready to go. Im pretty confident im going to be going with a package from TBS. Can you guys show me a few FTS of your packages after a couple of months with things up and running?

Thanks.

Here's a pretty recent shot. Almost a year. Pretty crummy photo, but you get the idea.

lol I was just looking at your tank in that thread I made earlier this month. Looks good.

Thanks.

Oh, is that tuxedo urchin in the middle of your right tower?

Im still working on my coral placement but as far as the rock work im happy with it. there are caves and a lot of room in the back. I have absolutely nothing holding the rock or corals in place. I just hate to anchor anything when im still trying to figure out where the best location is. not to mention my anemone might decide to change locations. but im going to glue the acropora onto a small piece of LR. Best of luck

I think you are talking about my sea apple. :spin1:
Not part of the package, but a nice addition. He's not out feeding in the pic, and does kind of look like a very bright colored tuxedo. I've got a bunch of frags to mount, so my sandbed is kind of cluttered.

i have a tuxedo sea urchin. Liveaquaria send him to me by accident. I removed him and placed him in the sump because he kept eating away at the liverock until it turned white and also seemed to poke corals and bulldoze snails and hermit crabs. Dont see how they are reef safe. I plan on giving it away to the LFG or anyone who wants it.

This is a picture of my tank in June when it turned 1 year old. I need to take a new picture since I have moved some stuff around.

Beautiful tank! Wow. I predict we'll see more tanks with photosynthetic gorgonians, macro algaes and soft corals in the future of our hobby. They just look so natural and beautiful. Much cooler than a tank full of acros in my opinion. Great job! Would love to see more pics including close-ups of some of your animals. Cool.

Divemonster,

Your tank is beautiful... it looks like you put your Part 2 in yesterday. You've obviously had success with your sponges and macroalgae... I have not. :sad1:

Could I trouble you to post your water parameters and your feeding routine? Also, do you skim aggressively, use GFO and GAC, etc.?

A lot of questions I know, and my apologies to the OP for hijacking his thread, but I think we could all benefit from learning more about your tank!

Amazing!

Amazing!

That's a fact!

Richard TBS:):):)

Skimming aggressively? No, I'm underskimming. I add Seachem's Marine Buffer to my RO/DI water before mixing salt, no other additives are put into the tank. I change 10% of the tank water weekly. My feeding schedule is once daily except on sunday when the shop is closed. I make my own food using oysters, red snapper, shrimp, squid or octopus, sea squirt, wakame (seaweed), sea urchin, etc chopped up in a food processor (Margharita anyone? :frog: ). Amount fed is only what everyone can eat in about 5 minutes. Phytofeast for the sponges/filter feeders is added every other day.

My parameters as of today are:
Temperature 77F
Specific gravity 1.025
Ammonia 0
Nitrate < .05 (yes it should be zero so please don't tell me)
Nitrites 0
pH 8.3
Calcium 460
Phosphate 0
Alkalinity 11 dKH

I don't dose Magnesium or Strontium so I do not test for it.

That's it. With the quality of the rock and critters Richard sends this tank has been extremely easy to maintain. By the way everything in my tank has come from Richard with the exception of some fish (fairy basslet, reef chromis, spotted damsel) and a coral banded shrimp.

That nitrate level is pretty impressive considering the life in there. That "Dallas Buffet" food of yours sure makes it happy.

Looks like diving on the aquaculture site, very cool!

Thanks Teri! Your parameters speak of an immaculate, very healthy tank! I can see a couple of things I can work on...
