Can you mix praziquantel & erythromycin?

Can praziquantel be used along with erythromycin?

I'm just not sure if this is caused by eye flukes or bacterial.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I do not want to lose this beautiful fish.
She has been in a QT with prazi-pro since Friday night.
Three symptoms that were present: cloudy eyes, heavy breathing and red patches behind the swimmimg fins. Since then the breathing is better but not down to what I would call normal. The eyes seem to have gotten worse.

I got her on Thursday night & she immediately exhibited the symptoms.
I don't think she'll make it , she looked weak this morning.

Nix on the FW dip. I think she is too weak at this point for the FW dip. Picked her up from an online dealer that was on the way home from work (Long Island to Connecticut).

Before I left this morning, I shut off a powerhead since she was fighting the current a bit, did a 20% water change while lowering the salinity from 1.023 to 1.019 to help ease osmoregulation, turned the QT skimmer back on to help O2 a bit and dropped in 400 mg of erythromycin in a 40g tank.

Hope she is still alive when I get home tonight. This will probably be my most devasting loss.

If its the same online dealer in NY that allows pickup then I haven't had any luck with those fish. She shouldn't have gone downhill that fast unless she's been sick or something is really wrong with the water (which I am guessing is not the case.)

To my surprise, she is still alive as of this morning. Today will be day three with the erythromycin and I had increased the dosage to 500 mg for 40g of water. I also added some vitamins to the water with a daily 5g water change.
The breathing is still fast but not as bad as the 1st day, there are definitely some type of tumorous looking growth on her sides where the swimming fins touch the body. I'm thinking the erythromycin will not do much for the growths but I should at least complete a 5 day daily administering of the e-mycin.

Thanks Steve,

I was an idiot for taking the fish when it was not 100% healthy but to my defense, it's the 1st time that I have ever seen conditions worsen in the span of hours with a fish. Yes, the eyes were not perfectly clear but within 2 hours of transport and 1 hour of acclimation, it got 10x worse with heavy breathing and clamped fins to top it off.
I'm wondering if I should switch off to a different antibiotic?

Hey LargeAngels,

She's still hanging in there & today is day 10 of the erythromycin. On day 6, I added another dose of Prazi because I thought but am not sure, I saw one of her bad eyes protruding with a worm like object.
Her situation currently is:
One eye is very bad and ruptured but the other is clear.
The cauliflower like growths on her sides have gone down and almost healed.
She is starting to breath rapidly again. (not good)
Worst is that she has not eaten at all. (even with fresh clam halves)

The erythromycin treatment is at it's maximum days. Can you suggest any other meds for her ruptured eye or should I just do a 50% water change tomorrow and turn the skimmer & UV back on?

I have been changing 6g of water a day (40g breeder) prior to remedicating. I also added Zoe (vitamins) into the water hoping that it would stimulate her appetite. The salinity has slowly been lowered to 1.014 now.

Help :(

I've never gone past 10 days. I'd do the 50% water change and see how it goes tomorrow. Any other marks, spots, blood streaks on her?

I see 2 small bumps on the side of her body where the ruptured eye is. Sort of like a pimple and has not grown in the last 10 days.
I'll do the 50 tomorrow and see after a day or two.

Warren,

Trade in the erythromycin for either nitrofuran or kanamycin if she isn't showing any signs of recovery after that big water change.

The 50% did her in Bill. She lasted about 15 hrs afterwards.

Remind me to only buy fish at that price with a 14 day :hammer:

Thanks for the help guys.
