Can't access Apex website overseas?

I recently bought an Apex for my aquarium and everything is running fine. One problem though. My brother who is overseas in the Middle East can't access the Apex's website. Whenever he types in the URL (http://apex) the web browser says that there is no page to display. Is there a different method of accessing the website overseas?

Thanks,
Joseph

That URL only works on your internal network. Outside the network, you will need to use your external IP address. Have you configured your setup for external access? If not there is a section in the New Users Guide stickied at the top of this forum.

Overseas has nothing to do with it. He wouldn't be able to get access to it from the Starbucks down the street.

As mentioned above, using DyndDNS and port-forwarding is what needs to happen. Check the unofficial users guide.

Thanks guys, I called NS and they helped me set it up. One more question though, how do I set up the text message alert? It doesn't say how to do it in the manual.

Thanks,
Joseph

you can set it up just like an email if you know your carriers domain for them

verizon is @vtext.com so "YourNumber@vtext.com" and you will get a txt from Apex if you have your email server setting correct.

for others you can just call and ask their support people.
