Can't configure email on Apex

So I have a new Apex unit. Today I connected it to my PC and started with the configuration. Everything went fine until I got to the email configuration. I read both the User Guide that came with the unit, and the "unofficial user guide". From what I can tell, I have done everything correctly, yet get nothing when I try to send a test email.

My STMP is ATT.Yahoo, however after talking with Neptune systems, I went with the free service from GMX.

I have noticed that the yellow and green lights on the Module at the Ethernet port, stay lite constantly. I also notice that for some reason the apex website I was working off of would freeze up and Google Chrome would not be able to find it. This would cause me to unplug the unit, and plug it back in, to re-boot the screen.

What the heck is going on? Is it the PC? The service provider? The Apex itself? Or user error?

Might be your browser. Have you tried it with IE?

Not sure what your email issues might be. Have you tried to telnet into the controller and run the email diagnostics? It's in the User Guide. That output might be helpful. Also, copy/paste your email settings from the Network setup page in to a post.

Yup, just tried of on IE as well with no luck. I was told I may need to update my firmware? It came with version 4.04, should I update and re-try?

I can get a screen shot when I am back on the computer and not on my phone.

What do you mean, "tried a telnet still nothing"? You should have an output listing of the commands that are processed and any exception messages. Can you post that?

Here is a screen shot of the Apex screen from last night.

And this is the telnet from 10 minutes ago.

FYI, regarding your PM - 10.x.x.x IP addresses are private just like 192.168.x.x though more uncommon.

10.0.0.5 is just as valid as 192.168.1.50 for the Apex on the local LAN.

Use SMTP port 587 for GMX.
The email username needs to be your GMX email address, not the Yahoo one. Use your GMX password too.

Will you repost your settings and also, can you get the complete telnet log. Your screenshot only shows part of it. If you can only show part, show the end, that's where the error will be.

Yes, I can try again to show the settings. As for the Telnet log, what you see is what I got. It is over the top of your sample from your user guide.

So I just ran another Telnet. I did it incorrectly the first time, and it never ran, I did not space before the "cons" etc. Will put up a screen shot in a minute.

Email Authentication - Enable

Look in your telnet log for the 'error reply'. It's asking for authentication. Also, see post #8.

Make the change, save the page, then go back a second time and check the 'test' box.
