just saw an article on another site that bali aquarich has successfully raised some clarions. I've kept some of their captive bred annularis and they're great fish. just wondering if anybody in the business seen these available on pricing lists yet.

They have not even released the quantities they've been successful with, let alone pricing yet. Just teaser shots ;)

the price wont drop anytime soon even if they breed it enough ...

if the price does drop though, breeding will stop ... raising the angel fry is nothing like raising clownfish or seahorses ...

Were these fish spawned in captivity or just raised from the larval stage they would have been caught at like they do with the blue hippo tang?

I think this will drop the price to 1000 to 1500 per fish depending on how sucessful they are at breeding them.

If they release 50-100 or so it would almost double the yearly supply to the US.

They are captive bred and will hopefully be made avail to hobbyists...we should def. see a price diff...and more wild caught Clarions will be avail very shortly, like next 3 weeks...

Unlikely... Bali Aquarich is working with Pomacanthus annularis, which is of course a beautiful fish, but not pricey. They are/were working with a handful of other species as well (search RB's for more info). These guys aren't attempting them in small aquariums like most, they're actually a food fish producer that has branched into the aquarium market, and breed fish in large vats/ponds.

Hopefully it'll be like blue squammie clams :)

Might have to set up a FOWLR :eek2:

I believe they are doing it naturally. they also breed varius clowns, pinnatus batfish, and lookdowns. the pricing on most of their fish has been pretty reasonable with maybe the exception of their designer clowns which I think are pricey.
