Captive Bred Maze angel on DD

1500 and tiny - I am scared (after some talks with gobolts23) that my tangs would serve as a threat to the fish

I guess I don't get the super expensive angels. IMHO I think the blue face is much prettier. What is it about the rare ones that makes them so desirable? Im curious.

In addition to the price, I think the angels are harder to care for. They aren't reef safe, either. That eliminates many potential buyers. It's a lot of responsibility to buy a rare angel. I enjoy looking at and reading about the success of more experienced aquarists with them!

I wouldnt consider any angel "reef safe" but I have to say bluelines and maze angels are definitely more on the "safer" side of the spectrum.

That's kinda my point I guess, I enjoy my fish very much and what I find beautiful may not be someone elses cup of tea. I did read the peppermint angel thread, they were very cool looking, but how many are still alive? Even in experienced reefers tanks...for me the risk and cost grossly outweigh the fish. But again that is just me, I really enjoy seeing all the pics of them swimming happily in others tanks though :) So thank you all for sharing your beauties with the rest of us!!!

I like rarer fish in general, maybe its a trend of being in the hobby so long. Its like zoas. When is the last time you saw some green bay packers and thought WOW!!!! That being said I have some, and am the only person i know with them, but when I see a yellow tang its just "meh."

The other issue with a fish that small not knowing what it's final patterning will be. Let's face it we all want the ultra cool pattern and would be disappointed if the fish matured in to an "average" maze angel.

My CB Maze has started to develop really nice coloration. But I agree you never know what you will get. 1500-2000$ is very expensive for a fish. I am cleaning my systems today but will try to update my thread with a picture this weekend.
