Carpet advice

Due to the fact my Haddoni has grown so rapidly and an upgrade is a few months away I am having to re-home it . Last night in the process of rearranging rock to accommodate the carpet it let go and floated so I took the opportunity to get it into a strainer. My question is, with it being in the strainer and so close to my light should I just turn on half the T-5's or or will it be ok in full light. I have a 6 bulb Tek Elite over the tank and the carpet in the strainer is about 4-6 inches below the light.

Well it is more the 1/2 the distance closer to the light now right?

It did not acclimate to that position either.

I would cut it back by 1/4. With a careful watch on it. If it starts to move it might be too close still.
