Carpet and bare

Hey guys -

I have been toying with the idea of dropping a carpet in my system since I'm getting more water this weekend and a much more powerful lighting setup to run a SPS-dominant system. Last night I discovered my LFS has a carpet they don't want in their tanks, meaning I can get the thing for darn near free if I want to. Given the short time I had to look, I wasn't able to ID the exact species but this morning I think it's a pearly blue-green Haddoni.

However, I'm hellbent on doing my new SPS system as a bare bottom and all my livestock reflects that. It's a 75 driven by 2x250W overdriven Radiums. Which of the carpet species will work for me in a BB system? Trying to get a home for my ocellaris pair at the same time.

A gigantea would be your best bet. They prefer attaching to rocks vs burying their foot in the sand. They also like stronger flow than other carpets

+1. Gigantea FTW!

Haddoni can be kept in BB tanks, especially really small ones that actually attach themselves to rocks, but when they get larger they'll need a DSB to be "happy" and not move around continuously. Mertensii are typically bland and get really big.

Though not a carpet, a magnifica is a hosting species that would look really nice in a SPS tank.

My haddoni decided rocks are better then sand :)
