Carpet Anemone at Night...

I was curious for those who keep Carpet Anemone's, what does yours do at night? Does yours kind of shrivel up at night? For a while now (few weeks) I have noticed that when I turn on the lights in the morning, it looks very shriveled and almost sickley...but once the lights are on...it fills out and opens up and looks awsome all day...It doesn't seem to gap its mouth..and has been eating and seems very healthy (Very Sticky)

I just didn't know if its normal for them to "Sleep" at night..or are they supposed to stay open and full 24/7. I will try and get a "Daytime" pic as well as just waking up from "Nightime" pic. It only does this at night, once the lights have been off for a hour or so...it almost seems to go to "Sleep" and doesn't look normal to me...

Does your Carpet "Sleep" at night? And then open/fill back out during the day?...It has never done this during the day...just at night...

Yes. My gigantea does this. Its footis attached to the base pf a rock and as soon as the lights start to dim down for the night he shrinks down and pulls himself close to the rock. Big and full all day and healthy as far as I can tell.

So from my experience this is exactly the behaviour they display.

Seems strange though because they don't have eyes and don't move and they EAT by stuff stumbling into their tentacles. In theory one might have expected that they'd be bigger at night rather than smaller.

Maybe light as food is better than physical food particles for them and they are concerned about predators or accidents.

All of my (( have 5 )) Haddonis get smaller at night, but only by about a 1/4 -- if that.

I can try to get some pics of some of them later today (( lights still on )) and then when the lights are off (( or in the AM, depending on how late I stay up )).

I have a gigantea carpet anemone and had it for more than 7 months and it went through shrinking stage where I thought it's going to die but it's very healthy and nice now. I don't know if shrinking is just a phase or a bad sign but I have Long Tentacle Anemone also. I feel like gigantea carpet is much hardier than bubble tips I had 3 bubble tips die on me but the Long Tentacle anemone and Giant Carpet seem to have grown bigger since I got em. Last time I did water change the LTA closed up for a night. Their reactions are so random that it's hard to tell sometimes.

This is what I think in general.
-no gaping mouth
-sticky
-eats
then I think it's healthy.

My gigantea carpet does not necessarily get smaller at night but the tentacle shape and length sometimes change.

BTW I bought my LTA when it had gaping mouth. It's so healthy now. Anemones are hard but not as hard as some people online make it out to be.

Not a carpet, but my RBTA shrinks up after lights go out... though sometimes it emerges again after a few hours into a more relaxed, but open position. Tentacles somewhat deflated/limp. After lights are on, it's opened back up with puffy tentacles and healthy as ever.
