carpet anemone in a 4g

Actually keaton's mom
Would it be ok if I kept a carpet anemone in a 4 gallon tank with a built in one gallon sump?

Thanks allot!!

Why would you want to? The name carpet anemone covers several different species. Some grow to 3 feet in diameter (Stichodactyla mertensii) while the Stichodactyla haddoni and Stichodactyla gigantea are smaller they are WAY too big for a nano. There is a cool looking mini carpet anemone Stichodactyla tapetum that is about the size of a ricordia that would work in a nano with good lighting but they are supposed to be hard to find.

Carpets need more space than 4 gallons. I was foolish to want to keep a smaller one, about 3 inches in a 20+20 until I could upgrade but I never was able find a healthy anemome, luckly me. They can be very difficult even in larger tanks. Maybe sperry's Stichodactyla tapetum would work but I still would not try it in a 4 gal since lighting could heat things up too much. But hey, it is an excuse for a bigger tank right?

No that size tank is way too small for any species of Anemone especially a Carpet.

Yes, but technically no. There are mini carpet anemones out there, but they can't host anything if you are thinking of that. But they do look cool. Look for a Stichodactyla tapetum.

Well i sorta thought that. I know someone that wanted to give me one but i didn't want to put it into my main tank.

Over the tank i have a 40w pc

I kept a carpet in a 10g for 12 years and had no trouble keeping it just 4-5" across. I just didn't feed it

Sadly I killed it when the heater failed in my tank 2 months ago.
