Carpet Anemone Issues

I picked up a green carpet anemone about two weeks ago from my LFS and he still has not attached to anything. He is floating around the tank ontop of the sandbed and won't attach to anything for the life of me. He is healthy and eating (squid, mysis shrimp, green chromis(he seeks them out)) and is very sticky. My substrate is 2"-3" with egg crate on the bottom of the tank under the sandbed. Any suggestions on how I can get him to stick to the sandbed?

Might want to turn the flow down/off for a little bit and allow him to find a spot to attach. Once it looks like he's got his foot down, then ramp the flow back up.

When I got my Green carpet anemone I dug a hole in the sand down to the glass turned off all flow other then the returns and it put it attached its foot to the glass pretty quick. It then moved around until it found the spot it liked and has stayed stuck to the glass for 4 years now. I am not sure if it will like the egg crate or not but it will want the sand.

Something doesn't sound right. It's not attached to anything, but it's eating? Typically they don't attach because they are not happy, but they usually need to attach to eat.

I assume you have a haddoni, which is a sand dwelling anemone. They like at least 4" of sand to bury their foot. Usually they make it down to the bottom of the tank, and attach their foot to it. I agree that turning down the flow until it attaches is a good idea. If you turn up the flow, and it detaches, it usually means you have too much flow.

I also agree that it may not like the eggcrate. I would bury a smooth rock above the eggcrate so it has a smooth surface to attach its foot. You should still increase the amount of sand, at least in the area where the anemone is.
