Carpet Anemone not looking good

I think we need to put a large note up about Vibrant. I don't want to test it and I don't want to see someone else trying to clean up something and kill off their tank. I will reach out to them and see what case studies or information they may have.

Anyone have anything about the true ingredients in Vibrant?

Vibrant Ingredients -

95% Cultured Bacteria Blend
1% Amino Acids (Aspartic Acid)
0.5% Vinegar
3.5% RO/DI Water

Hi Larry,

Thanks for the heads up.

Vibrant is safe with all animals including the most sensitive sps, anemones, lps, etc. Vibrant has been around for a few years now. There are thousands of users and information scattered all across the web about vibrant. If you search Vibrant on reef central and *********, there are tons of threads from users, including threads from users who have done extensive tested under a microscope with live video and photos to show the actions of the bacterias as well as in their tanks. Many reef aquariums house anemones and this is the first time someone has said they have had a problem with theirs. Think this is just a coincidence of a unhealthy anemone, and adding Vibrant recently. Another note is that we have had a few handfuls of people read the instructions wrong and dose 10x the recommended amount with no casualties to animals.

Thanks,

I don't know if 1% amino acid is enough to cause a reaction, but when I used Aqua Vitro Fuel, my large gigantea anemone had a negative reaction to it. It immediately -- and somewhat violently -- retracted. I admit that I simply dumped the capful into the tank so the anemone may have gotten blasted with it, but I assumed it would disperse enough to not bother anything. Fortunately, the gig recovered a few minutes later.

I don't think an overdose of aminos, especially in the quantities we dose, are enough to kill a healthy anemone. If it was sick however, it may not have the ability to quickly purge a contaminant, and could potentially damage its internals. In other words, I don't think Vibrant was the direct cause of death.

Do you have any photos of when your first received the nem? All of the photos in the thread show a dying (or dead) nem. Also, obviously a nem that had just died doesn't smell, but necrotic tissue smells TERRIBLE when exposed to air.

Keep in mind that all nems should be placed in a QT tank for about a month, mostly for observation, then for treatment if necessary. No dosing of any chemicals or supplements.
