Ok picked up my green carpet anemone 4 days ago. Still looks good but dosent seem to want to shut his mouth at all. I read it might possibly bemy salt level is to high. It was at .026 and I lowered it to .024 and its been that way for a couple days now. Yet his mouth still stays open. Tryed to feed it silversides, krill, and mysis but no go. Just eats it then 10 min later I see the food floating around in the tank. he just spits it back out. Anyone else have a possible reason it way still have the gapping mouth. My clowns love it, could it possibly be that they are just agravating it alot. One time I noticed the mouth so big that the mamma clown had her whole Body in the mouth w/ just her head sticking out. I thought for a moment the anemone was eating her. Thanks in advance

There's something wrong with the anemone when their mouths are open that big all the time. It's possible that the clowns are agitating it too much. I find that when the clowns are too big for the anemone they can actually kill it by moving around too much. That has happened to my carpets before. Also there could also be a problem with your lighting/water parameters. What kind of lighting are you using? What are your other water parameters besides salinity?

Also it's tough sometimes to find healthy carpets in the store/online.

what are your other parameters?

you can keep carpets under PCs but also depends on tank height and water quality

Ahh yes figured it out. Lighting is the issue here. Just picked up some 175w halide's and the mouth closed min after turning them on.
