I found a good deal on a 5 to 6 inch Carpet Anemone, but I need to know how much they move around. I have a good spot for it, but if it moves alot I may have troube with it getting to close to my corals. Anyone have any experance with these?

Like other host anemone species, carpet anemones tend to stay put once they find a spot that provides adequate water flow, light, and food. You didn't mention which species of carpet you purchased, most likely S. haddoni or S. gigantea (as those are the species most often imported). Haddoni tend to bury their base in the sand and attach to the bottom of the tank or a rock under the surface of the sand; gigantea prefers to be on a hard surface such as a piece of coral either above the sand or below a layer of sand.

Gary pretty much nailed it.

I can only speak of Haddonis, excluding me moving the tank and/or redoing the rock work my two have never moved once they were settled in.

One other thing you need to consider about keeping Haddoni is that they will eat fish, even huge fish. It is common that people who keep non clown fish with them will lose fish to them. I would not recommend Haddoni in a community tank, especially with a prize fish that you just can't loose.

I agree with OrionN-I have lost 2 fish in the past month to my blue Haddoni. One was a 5in Blue Chin Trigger and the other was a 5in Naso Tang. I really dont know how it happens, they are there one day and gone the next.

I think I am a lucky Haddoni owner, I've had my yellow/tan one for 7 years, and my blue one for 9+ months and in all that time I've only lost one fish. That was a yellow watchman goby. My fish are also gutsy and will try to pick at food that has fallen into the anemone.

I have also been lucky w/ my blue haddoni, had it for 4 mths and only a few hermits that have fallen on the anemone have been sacrificed. My blue linka SCARES ME! It will get close but has ex caped harm!

lol once i was wacthing my new mimic tang and it was only newly introduced. The moron went straight into the carpet. I panicked and shoved my hand in the tang and ripped him outa their. His skin was all white with anemone stings on it. When i came back from school he had disappered and found a mushy skeleton of him lol. I also had a huge blenny around 15cm long which also got hammered in the anemone.

I was at my LFS when a guy brought a giant carpet in around the size of a dinner plate. The guy gave it back to the LFS coz it had hammered his Queen Trigger LOL!
