I Have a 90 gallon tank I am looking to keep a electric green or blue carpet anemone in. Is 2-250w metal halide, and 2-110 watt vho super actinics enought light to be successfull
I'm going to take a picture of my anemone and post it. I think it is a haddoni (sp) but it doesn't like bright light. It is under 24" of water and 65 watts of pc light. Eats like a champ though with selcon soaked shrimp. It gets fed basically everyday by the clown snatching food.
Anyone else keep one or seen one under weak lights? I've had it now for almost 2 years (March '06) and it hasn't moved since it went in and found its place.
I had my yellow/green/tan Haddoni under PCs ( 3*96 ) in my 58 for about a year and a half (( years ago )) then it was under 6*65 PC in my 75 for about a year. (( have had it for a total of 7+ years. )) It is currently in my 75 under 2*250 DE + 2*54 T5, I have to say that is has never looked better. The color is a lot more rich now.
Need to get an updated picture but here is one from a couple of months ago (( the blue Haddoni is in my 58 for a while -- long story. )) The yellow/green/tan one is in the middle back. EDIT -- BTW, I sold the BTA on the right hand side
You can purchase red or blue Carpets through Vivid Aquarium in Calif. I am currently deciding if I want to go this way also. Great products from a really nice group of guys. Talk to Shaun or Dave.
ssavader -- Only one, and that was a Yellow watchman goby -- happened about 4 or 5 years ago. The yellow/green one ate it, the blue one ( which I've had for just under a year ) hasn't eaten any of my fish yet, and that one hasn't hosted any clowns yet.
I think I am one of the few people that has been lucky in that aspect. And it isn't because they aren't sticky, can barely get them off my hand if I try to move them without gloves.
i have had a green brown one for about three years. I kept him under 2 250 de halides in my 55 gal. When i got him he was totally bleached out. After about a year he took back his color and is looking great. He is still in the tank that my cousin owns now. But i had a red one that i got about 3 days ago and its still acclimating, but the colors are great on him. He is a XL red haddoni carpet. He is 15-18 in across. I have him under 2 400 watt halides. Moguel sockets.

Dont give up on that guy. Feed him 2-3 times a week and keep your lights on agood cycle and he will color up again. I couldnt belive it i had one just like that from a lfs, and in about a year he got his color back. He is nowq a deel emerald green with different shades of greay along him. I couldnt belive it. I sold him to my cousin sometime back and hadnt seen him for about 8 months, and when i did he had totally turned back to his original color.
