Carpet Anenome - with small Clarkii Clown

As the title says, I would like to sell my green Carpet Anenome (about 10-12 inches around) - with small Clarkii Clown. The clown is about 3 inches or so and loves his carpet. If you will take both and come over and dig the carpet out of the sand, I will sell them together for $30. If you would like two true percula clowns (which host in my RBTAs but are not for sale), I will let you take both of them (which are both females, not paired) for an extra $30 total for both ($15 each but must take both). I am in Winter Haven, which is about 40 minutes from Disney on I-4, directly off of I-27

Do you have the true percs in the same tank w/ the clarki and his anemone? I'm interested, but I already have a mated pair of true percs and I've been told to only keep one (set) clownfish. I've got a 120 gal - wonder if it'd work?

I tried to pair together the percs, but they are both female and do not like each other. The clarkii is in with the percs, they do not bother each other. The percs may be better seperated so maybe give away the one to a buddy or if you have two tanks. If you have a pair of percs already, I would encourage you to not put any more percs or false percs in the tank. I use to keep 12 percs in a tank together but it was a 280 and the 3 variations (black, perc, false perc).
The carpet is getting pretty big and I want to move several RBTAs into his space. The clarkii is not a pair so making room for a pair of saddles. He is also very sticky so whomever wants him... is sticking their arm in the tank to get him :)

great deal, If I had a 3rd tank full size tank I would definately be interested, but I dont :/

Cant really afford another one just for a pair of clown.s...hahaha

So Greg, in your experience (and anyone else feel free to chime in), putting the clarki in w/ my 2 percs (in a 120) may not result in any type of territorial war??
I don't think I'd be interested in the other two percs that you have, though.

I have 6 Picassos and 1 true Perc in my 58 gallon tank.
They are one big happy family.
While I have read no more than 2 clowns per tank, I have experienced no problems with 7 in one tank.
It all depends on the fish. It depends on their age when they go together, and also if they are all introduced to the tank together.
I know you have clowns already, but I found if you bag the existing clowns up, and float them while the new ones are acclimating, they seem to be new to the tank again, and will not be so territorial.
I hope this helps.

You will read in just about any book that clowns should not be mixed. Myself and many others on RC have tanks with multiple clown species in pairs. As an example, in my 280, I had:

2 pairs of black percs
2 pairs of true percs
2 pairs of false percs
1 pair of saddles
1 pair of maroons
1 pair of fire clowns
not to mention all the other fish like tangs, angels, ect. I never had a problem. In my 90 here, I had a pair of nigripes, pair of percs, and a pair of maroons, no problems. I have a problem with my new percs because I have two females and they both try to host in the same RBTA. The clarkii does not bother either.

In my 280, each set of clowns hosted in different areas, corners of the tank, LPS, softies, xenia, BTAs, carpet, LTA, they didnt really care where they were. I have heard of stories of clowns fighting to the death too... The best advice I can give... is if you want multiple clowns, add them all at the same time or at least add them at night time when the lights are out. Maroons are probably the worst ones for agression. Once they are in the tank, you might not be able to add any other clowns.

I am interested in the carpet and clown, but I live on the east side of town by UCF...is it still for sale? If so could we arrange a meeting say by universal?

Swirl, normally I would say yes... but you will need to "dig the carpet out of the sand, I will sell them together for $30".

Just to chime in I think tank size matters. When it comes to clowns, that is. If you have one big enough to simulate enough space between each type in the wild they probably won't really have "turf" wars like you would if you crammed say 5 of them into a 29 gallon.

They always say the bigger the better :) and I had a hard time not chuckling at this post because it can so sound .. not about clownfish ><

Here is the picture of the carpet. The Clarkii keeps going under during the photo shots. I have one person coming over tommorrow and another in line if he doesnt take it. If you want to be in line as the 3rd, please send me a PM.

If you take some RO/DI water and place it in a baggie and freeze it, you can use that to help get the foot loose. Don't touch the anemone with the ice, but place it near the foot...often they won't like the sensation and will pull their foot away from it. Also, if you can get a small piece of the foot up, sliding a credit card gently underneath will help remove the foot. Rips or tears in the foot can cause serious, often deadly damage, so patience and gentle prying are essential. When placing in the new tank, try to make a "bowl" in the sand all the way to the glass bottom and near a rock "cove." If the anemone can nestle in there and can get its foot planted on the glass, it will feel more secure and may not wander. Mine is in virtually the same place now for several years. Wear elbow length gloves or wrap arms with cellaphane food wrap as anemone stings can be pretty significant, especially to some people who are more sensitive. GL!! Very nice looking anemone...looks extremely healthy...mouth is firm and color is great! Plus, that's a fantastic price!

Hey greg,

I won't be able to make it...I see you have several in line too...I wish you luck with your move and all...:)

A credit card? Does your carpet accept visa or mastercard?

I so have future plans of keeping a nem in my 125g. That is a really beautiful one
