And a small shot of the backside with purplish spots.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the ID folks. True rescue as he was going to the curb. His mouth was tight, and hes very sticky, so I'm assuming its health is descent, thats why I put him in the tank. He's eaten also. Assuming it was a bit bleached, but never saw the tank he was from(lighting?).

So you don't know what lighting it was under? What do you have for lighting? Odds are you are going to have to acclimate it to your lights. What do you have for flow ?

No, friend of a friends tank. Last livestock left and moving. Buddy got it bagged and brought it to me. I run 6x80W T5 icecap660. 4300 gph in PH, Eheim 1262 thru SCWD thru educators. Put it in open area next to the rock at sand level, high flow. He attached to rock and slowly slid back to where it is now, medium flow. Think I should screen it(light)?

Since you don't know what it was under (( and since it is bleached, would be safe to assume wasn't under ideal lights )), think it would be best to screen the lights.

Yeah, my friend aint a fish person. I'll see if he cant get ahold of the guy and find out the lighting. I'll screen him starting tomorrow. I've had 2 bleached BTA's, but they were my own fresh clones, and moved them to my other tank as soon as I could get them. Took about 2 months, but they came around and I gave them away. Any more tips on this guy? I own 4 very healthy BTA's, so I have a little exp with nems(1+ year), but they all host GSM's.

I guess they are not too delicate if they get to us healthy.
This anemone requires very high light, and good flow. Has it deflated in your tank? If it is attach and not deflated, I would just leave it be and leave the light be. He will adjust and craw to where ever he want.
I would love to bet on that is not injured and infected. Bleach anemone will recover. Wait a day or two and if not deflated, feed him with small bits of food (Mysis size) 5-15 until you know for sure that he eat well.
Good luck, I would love to try to save him. If you just get him from a fish store then he is doomed, but if it is from a tank and been there for a while then your chance of saving him is excellent.

Its definatly not deflated. I got it on Thursday, inspected it best I could before acclimating and putting in tank. Mouth tight, very sticky, and base looked in good condition. I fed a few pieces of krill, and it reacted quickly. It has somewhat shaded itself by positioning. Piller rock its attached to has overhang above. While it does have a little white in it, most is yellowish/florescent lime green. I guess my main concern, was it actully being an Atlantic Carpet, and not a Pacific. Just could not find a full description, differeciating the 4 common types. How often should I feed this fella? I feed BTA's once every 7-10 days. BTW, its probably 12-14 inch across, although its quite folded in current position.

It is an S. gigantea. You can also see the tentacles moving around when it is not in lots of current

I feed mine every 2-3 days and it has been flourishing. I change up the feeding often. It loves thawed out shrimp I buy from a local safeway. It gobbles down silversides and the occasional mysis that it grabs on to. I highly recommend shrimp and silversides for yours since its so bleached.

UPDATE. Just though I would update this fella. More then likely gonna be the tanish variety. Getting back lots of color and hosting a Occy. Pic still looks whiter then appearance, but this fella is gonna make it.Only feeding 1x per week as its hosting now.Hasen't moved at all, attatched to same rock, mouth tight, and hasn't ate any fish =). Been around 5 weeks, so I'm confident its fully acclimated to the system. Funny thing is, the porcelin crab that came with it, still lives on the outside and outskirts, with the clown in it =). Bad pic, but here you go.

Unbelievable! When I first saw this thread, I thought for sure that was a dead anemone. Great job. The anemone does have a long ways to go before it is acclimated to your system, though. At least it's moving in the right direction.

I agree with Insaneclownfish. There's no telling what color the anemone may be once it has fully acclimated to your system.

Thanks, it makes me smile. This fella could have been in the garbage, if I didn't think it had a fighting chance. I truely believe the hosting has helped a bit also(clown, not crab). Colors are even way darker today, its my camera skills that lack. If it becomes green or blue, even better. I'll just keep up with husbandry, and hope for a healthy Nem. BTW, I never "shaded" it, as the mounted place allowed it to shade itself.
I'm a true believer in "never say never" . If that was the case, I would never have accomplished what I've done over the years(FW & SW). Husbandry and a lot of heart, makes all the difference in the world.
I'll update pics next weekend.

6 weeks and 2 days in my tank. Still has never deflated. Has eaten everything offered. Clown and crab still sharing it. Definatly liking the carpet better then BTA's. All BTA's are removed from this system, barring the 1 in the sump thats sold and waiting delivery.

Whats your feelings about 2 Gigs in a 125g with a 40g sump/fuge? Highly considering finding a 2nd(in a few months), as I'm getting a group(8-10 total) of Occy's(B&W and standard juvs) very soon. Only other Nems will be Ric shrooms(4).

If you get another one, getting a healthy one becomes even more crucial than normal. If the new one gets an infection it can spread to the one you have now. Other than that, I see no reason why you couldn't get another. You kicked but on this one, so why not?

Never considered problems being passed along. Good point and thanks. Will keep an eye out for established Nems, and consider them only. Hate to ruin the luck of the draw on this one. Just gonna need another host,I think, if my clown "group" might work long term. Gonna just keep keepin on with this one for a minute =).
