Carpet Nem

Thanks, really happy with my blue one. Have had it for about 2.5 years now.

Back when my yellow watchman goby got eaten by my tan one, I actually saw it happen, and managed to pull it out. But, the damage was done, and it died later that day.

When I first got any of mine (( or moved them to another tank )) my cleaners would go near/on them to steal food. However, after they settled in and the sting got stronger, they stopped doing that. With either direct feedings, or fish food that falls into them the Haddonis close up so fast on them that no one could steal it if they wanted too.

My skimmer is still going nuts ever since I added that carpet i have had to raise the cup on my remora from always being at the lowst setting to allmost 3/4 up. Has anyone's skimmer done the same thing?.

Also i think the Haddoni ate my Engineer goby. I have not seen him in 2 days that I can remember. He always had a habit of going ape s*** at night so i guess he was the first lose.

My percs are hosting in everything but the carpet, Monti cap, Frogspawn, feather duster (im trying to get a pic), powerheads, sand. everywhere but the nem!

He's probably producing a little extra slime while he is acclimating. This will probably slow down in time. I would still skim a little wet for now.

This is a perfect example of why these anemones should not be housed in nano tanks. If he can affect the skimmer in a 75 like that, what would it do to the water quality in a nano tank?

Sorry for the rant. back on topic now.

You can expect this thing to grow very fast if it's happy. I got mine at about 7 inches. In the first year it was over 12. Before the second year was up he was expanding in the 15 to 16 inch range.

Beautiful anemone, and good luck.

OrionN thanks I need to put up some updated pic those where right after acclimation and the day after he is looking great and i love him! Toddrex's look amazing much better then mine!

Elegance your right about your rant but people aren't always doing the right thing in this hobby. I WISH MY CLOWNS WOULD HOST!!!

Toddrex how did you form the rock around your blue haddoni in those pics? is it a large cave or a wall? I and trying to get mine to do something similar but after a new rock and a couple hours playing with it i have a large cave and I dont know how happy I am about it. Ill post some pics.

also how big is he?

That isn't how I had the rocks in the first place -- it kind of forced me to move the rocks on the left side. Its foot is pretty much in a cave b/t the corner overflow and a group of rocks. In the following picture you can sort of see what I am talking about -- thought the little rock that the clowns are spawning on is now ontop of the rocks to the left, so the opening is bigger.

Without getting a ruler out, I would say that it is at least 12 inches across when fully open (( might be closer to 15 ))

So your telling me amadillo that you cut a Haddoni carpet anemone?

I wouldn't count on an answer. He seems to be mainly interested in selling.

Umm good luck with that whole cutting thing.......

Anyways my new cave. He is still not to happy from so much going on around him but I hope it will work out.

LOL I know I used about 2 tubes of gray reef epoxy on the rocks they are not going anywhere! ...................... I hope ;)

I am not to sure how much I like my new aquascape but I have spent way to much time in my tank this weekend so I am gonna try to leave it be.

I have a green carpet and I have seen it eat a fire fish and I am sure it has eaten chromis.... other possible fish it may have eaten (mysterious disappearing) are a potters angel and a green mandarin.

Hello all.Lost my first battle with a LFS bought carpet. It wasnt in good health to start with but my wife wanted it against my better judgement.Anyways I decided I would try again and this time start with a hopefully healthy one. When it arrived the mouth was closed, great sign. Its been 3 days since I put it in,and still looks great, shows a crack of white in the mouth once in a while but thats it.Im think about its first feeding what does everyone recomend. Will try and post pics later.

THNX in advance
